From Abandoned Pump House to Bat House at Croydon Woods

Can opening up the upper tower of our decommissioned pump house lure bats in to roost? We'll soon find out!

An abandoned groundwater decontamination facility was scheduled for demolition at our Croydon Woods Nature Preserve. But thanks to our Science and Stewardship team, it’s now becoming a bat house.

Learn about our creative reuse of this structure and the plans we have for a bat colony nesting site.

Meet Bethlehem A.M.E. - Bucks County's Oldest Black Church

Over 200 years later, the Bethlehem A.M.E. congregation meets to worship in Langhorne.

Founded in 1809, Bethlehem AME Church in Langhorne is proud to be “the oldest house of worship established by People of Color in Bucks County” and the third oldest Black church in the country.

Bethlehem A.M.E. joined Heritage Conservancy’s Register of Historic Places in 1979. The church’s current Pastor, Rev. Jacqueline Pinkney, is proud of its storied history and its active role in both its community and in the larger story of Black faith in the US.

Motus Tracking Tower Update 2026

Some of the migrants that our stations detected rely on healthy habitats in other countries, like the wood thrush in Costa Rica. Photo: Bill Kunze

Two radio telemetry stations installed by Heritage Conservancy are tracking tagged wildlife as they migrate through Bucks County. The data is already showing some patterns. Wood thrush, for example, a species down 60% in population, is showing up at one station far more than the other. Our Senior Conservation Biologist, Tyler Kovacs, breaks down the data.

What is the Motus data revealing?
