President's Message - Judy Weston

My journey began immediately after the Symposium. The pilgrimage to the Holy Land was a journey to listen to the call of Jesus. What was God calling me to do? Although, my feet ached constantly, and I required the help and encouragement of many to make it through the Holy Land, I am going to share my personal insights and the three words to process this trip for this February Council Connect.

Thank you for all you do for your parish, community, and our Diocese. As Coretta Scott King said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” Your efforts are greatly appreciated and may be more far reaching than you will ever know.

Thank you to all the PCCW’s who have updated their officer list for the new year and who have completed their 2024 Charitable Works Survey. Please continue to email any changes for 2025 officers to ldccwleadership@gmail.com. The Charitable Works Survey may be emailed to the same address and we are extending the deadline to March 1st. The Charitable Works Survey form may be found on the website, www.lincolndiocese.org. If you have trouble finding it, let me know and I will be glad to help.

A Committee has been working to improve our Website. It is still a work in progress with many updates and revisions needed. It is a challenge to keep up with the many changes that occur each year. We are working on a way to gather photos that would make it easier to keep current. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

May your year be filled with peace, prosperity and love.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Financial Secretary

The position of Financial Secretary is open. This is a wonderful entry level opportunity to step into the world of the diocesan LDCCW board. I would like to see each deanery submit a candidate. The person best suited for this position would be a person who is comfortable from a treasurer's position, but anyone is free to submit their name.

If you are interested please email me, Judy Weston or call me with any questions you have!

I guarantee, you will love joining the LDCCW Executive Board.

Social Media Help

We are growing! Our social media needs have increased and we have a need to enhance our presence on Facebook and Instagram. We are in need of a woman who is comfortable posting information about the LDCCW on these media formats. You will need to be comfortable working with Word, Google Documents, Publisher, and Canva. You will not need to be involved in Diocesan meetings but must maintain contact with the President.

For questions email Judy Weston at ldccwpresident@gmail.com or call or text 402-984-5856.

President's Project:

Adopt a Pregnancy Center

Please choose a Pregnancy Center you would like to support. Many of those who volunteer would enjoy the personal connection from their local Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW). We currently have lists from pregnancy centers and one from St. Gianna for their apartment needs. Please use the list as a reference of what to purchase. If you wish to send money to the Pregnancy Center please send the money  directly to Pregnancy Center

The spiritual needs of the centers are important as well. Use the Spiritual Bouquet cards and send them to your local pregnancy center and let them know they are receiving  spiritual cover to do their work.

Our Lady of Lourdes

February 11

I have always found myself intrigued by the Lourdes apparition. If you have not seen the movie, "The Song of Bernadette," you should check it out. The Lourdes apparitions of Our Lady began in 1858, when a 14-year old peasant girl from Lourdes, Bernadette, was visited 18 times by the Blessed Virgin Mary.
