Health and Safety Resources
The Jacobs Center continues to compile resources for the San Diego community during the pandemic. On this page, you will find information on how to contact 211 San Diego (which will connect you to COVID-19 resources over the phone or internet) and details about the Fresh Food Bank at Joe & Vi Jacobs Center every Tuesday from 1-3:30 p.m. (no sign up required and everyone will be served!).

COVID-19 Tests and Vaccines at Tubman-Chavez Community Center  
Vaccines are now being offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday for people in Phase 1A and people 65 and older and Phase 1B at the Tubman-Chavez Community Center. Reservations are required for the vaccine. The community center also has free, walk-up COVID-19 testing Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. t 5:30 p.m. To learn more about testing, visit the county’s website.
Free Flu Shot Clinics 
Start your new year off on a healthy note and get your flu shot! The CDC recommends that every person over the age of 6 months get their flu shot, and San Diego has several free flu shot sites. Use the link below to reserve a time slot at the East Public Health Center and the South Public Health Center.
Medical/ Financial Help Available from San Diego Latino Health Coalition
The San Diego Latino Health Coalition is dedicated to increasing access to critical information – whether it is health or finance related. The coalition can help you get tested for COVID-19 or help you receive urgent medical treatment. The resource centers are listed in the link below.
COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program Extended 
Has the pandemic affected your ability to pay rent? San Diego County residents can apply for the 2021 Emergency Rental Assistance Program online, which has been extended for another six months.
Medical & Mental Health Support for Black Families
Learn more about the Black Infant Health Program and the Perinatal Equity Initiative to help decrease the number of Black deaths during childbirth through Black Legacy Now’s website, or find the resources you need to receive medical and mental health support. Get the facts, know your rights and take action!
Celebrate the Lunar New Year Virtually 
The 39th Annual San Diego Chinese Fair will be held virtually on February 20 and 21 at 12 p.m. Celebrate the Year of the Ox by streaming the fair for free on sdcny.org or on Facebook. There will be live performances by dancers, musicians and storytellers!
San Diego Museum Month -
Free Virtual Tours & Activities  
San Diego Museum Month is still a go this year but, like plenty of other events, it will be virtual. San Diego Museum Council is offering virtual live events with interactive live components (like crafts) that you can do from home. Gardens and outdoor museums will be open for visitors in February. Some of these events are ticketed while others are not, so be sure to check each museum’s website ahead of time!

28th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival 
Buy your tickets for the San Diego Latino Film Festival that will celebrate Latino cinema, arts and cultural. It will take place March 11 to 21, and films will be shown online or at a drive-in theatre. There are several different ticket packages available.


Free Virtual Family Field Trip: Celebrate Black History Month with Jazzy Ash 
Get your family together to celebrate Black History Month and to learn about the musical stylings of zydeco, jazz, blues and swing from Jazzy Ash. Participants will also receive interactive study guide materials. This virtual concert is free to all San Diego County residents and is prerecorded so you can stream at your own leisure.

Jacobs Center Receives Organizational Excellence Award at SD Voice & Viewpoint Gala
The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint will be honoring Jacobs Center with an Organizational Excellence Award at its 2021 virtual gala on February 5 from 6-8 p.m. We congratulate the other awardees including San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, San Diego Hip Hop & Wellness 5k & Festival, Paving Great Futures and I Am My Brother’s Keeper and are grateful for this honor.
