Valentine's Day Story Walk

February 10, 10 AM - 2 PM

Downtown Partners, Inc. has partnered with the Iowa State Extension Office and BCSD PiECES to bring an interactive story to Downtown Burlington.

This event is most enjoyed by kids 10 years of age and under and will lead the child throughout the Downtown into store fronts, while enjoying reading "Happy Valentine's Day Little Critter!"

It all starts with a Valentine's craft at the Art Center of Burlington and ends with "Winnie the Pooh A Valentine for You" movie at the Capitol Theater. This event is to encourage youth to read and make reading fun.

Downtown Distinction Award Goes to The Busted Cup Brewhouse

This year one undertaking has made such an impact in multiple ways that we are combining two awards. Not only has this renovation completely transformed a seemingly forgotten building but has helped transform an entire block in Downtown Burlington.



The Best Renovation is being awarded to The Busted Cup Brewhouse and the Downtown Distinction Award is being presented to Brandon and Kathy Bentz.

The Busted Cup Brewhouse to be not just a place for adults but also a family-friendly destination. Their commitment to preserving the historical feel with a modern vibe is apparent in every detail.

The Busted Cup Brewhouse is set to become a cornerstone of Burlington, Iowa, reinvigorating the 700 block of Jefferson Street. It stands as a testament to their dedication to both the city’s heritage and its future.

Congratulations to The Busted Cup Brewhouse for winning the Best Renovation of the Year and Brandon and Kathy Bentz on being awarded the Downtown Distinction Award.

Seeking Farmers Market Vendors

Although it is still winter, Downtown Partners, Inc. is looking forward to the 2024 season of the Jefferson Street Farmers Market!

The market will take place on Jefferson Street on Thursdays from 4:30 to 7 PM beginning May 2.

2024 Open 4 Business Competition

With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Downtown Partners, Inc. presents the Open 4 Business Competition for a for-profit business located in the Main Street 

district. Each of the state’s Main Street organizations 

can nominate one business. If you have been in business since May 1, 2023 and are either currently or planning to be located in Downtown Burlington, you qualify!

The Beancounter Coffeehouse & Drinkery was awarded $15,500 for their addition of Boba Tea in 2022.

A complete application must be submitted by April 1. Downtown Partners, Inc. will choose a contestant for the June 12 semifinal judging to compete for a chance at $8,000. The five finalists will then present their ideas in a statewide contest at the Iowa Downtown Conference on August 5 for up to an additional $20,000 in funding.

Applicants will be required to complete an online 

application and submit a three minute "video pitch" 

about their business idea.
