BLACK HISTORY MONTH

NOAS is celebrating Black History Month by featuring black athletes, actors, actresses, comedians, and scholars on our social media pages. All of these people were also foster children. In spite of being in and out of foster homes, they were able to overcome barriers and succeed in life with the support and connections they gained.

During this month, NOAS also recognizes the great need to intentionally recruit for diversity. This includes recruiting BIPOC families to foster BIPOC children, to lessen the possible trauma that a youth may experience when cross-cultural placement occurs, and to decrease the disproportionality rates. NOAS is committed to developing culturally responsive practices that provide support and resources to ALL foster and adoptive families. For more information on NOAS’ diversity recruitment efforts, please email [email protected].

MALE MENTORS NEEDED

Due to the urgent need for supportive role models, NOAS is seeking MENTORS for both current foster youth ages 12-17 and former foster youth aged 18-21. Do you have 6 hours per month to commit to a foster youth for one year? If so please reach out to Kaitlin at [email protected].
