Highlights from the first month of 2020

We're officially through January and we already have so much to share with you! Here are some highlights from your local Chamber of Commerce:

From the Desk of the Executive Director

Save the date! Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00pm in the Badlands Community Facility – McDougald Room. Election of directors will take place at this meeting, as well as presentation of our audited financial statements. This year, there will be four 3-year terms and one 1-year term open for election on our Board of Directors. If you have an interest in serving on the Board, please review our Board of Director application package , which includes a list of expectations and an application form. On January 22, I had the pleasure of presenting my first Junior Achievement program. Twenty-two eager and engaged students in Mrs. Walker’s grade 4/5 class at Greentree School were participants in the More than Money program.  Read more

Survey finds Alberta business confidence continues to decline
~From the Alberta Chambers of Commerce~

More than half of businesses report feeling negative about the long-term future of Alberta—a 20-point decline in overall confidence since July.

According to Alberta Chambers of Commerce market research, 33 per cent of businesses reported feeling negative about our province's future in July. By the end of 2019, that number had increased to a staggering 54 per cent, with two in ten businesses reporting feeling "very negative" about the long-term future of Alberta. 

Canada Summer Jobs Grant Now Open
Employment and Social Development Canada has opened its annual call for applications for Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2020 and will be accepting applications until February 24.
