Modeling Women's Leadership

Join us for a reception and panel featuring prominent and innovative leaders from various arenas including Ruthanne Fuller, Newton's first female Mayor and Lauren Corduck, founder of OneinForty, devoted to increasing awareness and education about the BRCA gene mutations and high incidence of cancer in Ashkenazi Jews.

The event will launch a new initiative to cultivate women's mentorship and young leadership in congregations and in the Jewish Community. The initiative honors the memory and legacy of Anita Redner z''l, by continuing the type of work to which she was so deeply committed.

Details of the event, the initiative, tickets, and sponsorship coming soon.

One Step Ahead of Cancer

Ashkenazi Jews have a one-in-forty chance of inheriting a BRCA gene mutation that puts them at high risk of developing cancer that can be prevented or detected early.

Synagogue Council is proud to team up with two initiatives dedicated to raising awareness and supporting genetic testing and cancer research.  Oneinforty  educates about about the Jewish-cancer connection and what can be done to detect and prevent cancer early.  Click HERE to visit their website and for information about their May 23 seminar.

Look for information about the  BRCA Founder Outreach (BFOR) Study coming to Boston!  BFOR will offer free genetic testing for BRCA genetic mutations to about 1,000 Massachusetts residents of Ashkenazi descent over the age of 25.
