Akron Aeros Announce $1.65 Million Video Board Project
The Akron Aeros, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, announced today a new privately-funded $1.65 million HD video board project for the 2013 season at Canal Park, which includes the largest video board in Double-A baseball, and one of the five largest in all of Minor League Baseball, and an HD LED ribbon board display in left-center field. The project will place Canal Park among the top parks in the country in technological advancement and in-game entertainment options.
"The video board is just part of our commitment to our fans and the city of Akron. We are obsessed about giving our fans the very best experience possible and this is one of many new enhancements Aeros' fans can look forward to in 2013," said Aeros' owner Ken Babby, who signed a 30-year lease extension with the city of Akron and a four-year player development agreement extension with the Cleveland Indians in October.

Downtown Akron Partnership invites residents to share their love of Downtown with "Kiss my Akron" campaign
This month, DAP will kick off a new promotional campaign to highlight favorite destinations in Downtown Akron. "Kiss my Akron" is a fun and whimsical way for Downtown employees and visitors to show what they like best about the neighborhood.
Participating restaurants, shops and Downtown businesses will be given a supply of kiss print window clings for distribution. DAP Ambassadors will also be armed with a supply to hand out while making their rounds. Guests will be encouraged to place these clings on the front window or door of their favorite places. There will be a strong social media campaign behind this with people asked to share photos of them "kissing" their favorite establishments on DAP's Facebook page.
The campaign will last for the month of February. Please contact Sharon Gillberg at the DAP office at 330-374-7676 or sgillberg@downtownakron.com for more information and to be part of this unique promotion.

Go Red for Women
Are you wearing red today?
Today marks the 10-year of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement, fighting to raise awareness about a woman's risk of heart disease.
Do you know what causes heart disease in women? What about the survival rate?
The fact is: Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. That's approximately one woman every minute!
But it doesn't affect all women alike, and the warning signs for women aren't the same in men. What's more: These facts only begin to scratch the surface.
There are a several misconceptions about heart disease in women, and they could be putting you at risk. The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement advocates for more research and swifter action for women's heart health for this very reason. In this section, we'll arm you with the facts and dispel some myths - because the truth can no longer be ignored.
Find out more here.
