In February 2020, the AMLJIA hosted its joint annual training events in Anchorage; the OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Training and the Public Entity Risk Management Seminar. Both of these courses are offered to AMLJIA members cost-free and provides a travel subsidy for up to two participants from each member entity.

Participants in the OSHA 10 Hour General Industry can earn their OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach certification, and learn about the following:

  • Occupational Safety & Health Act
  • Safety & Health Programs
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Electrical Safety
  • Walking & Working Surfaces
  • Fall Protection
  • Exit Routes
  • Emergency Action Plans
  • Fire Protection
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hazard Communication
  • Ergonomics

The Public Entity Risk Management Seminar is designed for municipal and school employees and elected officials to hear expert instruction in risk mitigation and prevention. Topics relating to risk management include; Cyber Security, Confined Spaces, Fire Prevention and Suppression, and Workplace Violence.

Although we were looking forward to another great conference this spring, current local mandates and general pandemic uncertainty have made a large gathering impossible. After we surveyed the membership to determine whether to offer a "virtual" conference, it was clear that the in-person learning experience is highly valued. Therefore, we made the decision to postpone the Public Entity Risk Management Seminar until 2022.

Until then, be sure to check out the free online trainings available on our website. If you don't see the training you need, email or call the AMLJIA at 800-337-3682 for assistance and for all risk management and safety training needs.

We look forward to seeing you at our conference next year *hopefully!*
