Way to go! Four more added to Research Launch Award roster The Office of Research is proud to present our most recent recipients of the Research Launch Award, an award we've given out since 2018 to new faculty who attend a certain amount of research development sessions organized by the OoR. Ninety-one individuals—including our newest four—have completed the challenge and our statistics show they're 3.5 times more likely to capture research funding than their peers. Plus, the award comes with $2,500 in research seed money. Our new recipients hail from the School of Information Technology, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Department of Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems.  To find out who they are and more about the program, follow this link.

Space Research Institute looking for second round of Discovery and Exploration fellows Do you know an undergraduate or graduate student who is interested in the future of space research? Let them know about some fellowships available soon from the University of Cincinnati’s Space Research Institute for Discovery and Exploration. The Space Research Institute (SRIDE) officially launched in 2021 to support multidisciplinary research that continues Ohio's extensive legacy of contributions to aviation and space exploration. A prime objective is to foster growth in career paths aligned with regional and national interests to discover and explore our universe—with an emphasis on space travel and habitation. Therefore, SRIDE created the Fellowship for Discovery—a $3,000 research grant available to undergraduates for one semester; and a full-year Fellowship for Exploration—a $24,000 opportunity for graduate students. Application portals open Feb. 15 and close April 1. Prospective applicants are asked to visit the OoR Funding Opportunities page after Feb. 15 for more information. Core Enhancement Grant Program deadline approaching The Office of Research understands that sustaining and refreshing core facilities is critical for future success of our research enterprise. As part of the Research2030 program strategy to Invest for Impact and Invest in Success, we are issuing a core development opportunity.  For this internal grant program, a research core facility is defined to be inclusive of shared research facilities with government approved recharge rates. This program offers funding support to existing research core facilities to update equipment or software, or it may be used to expand capabilities. Applications must be submitted via email to research@uc.edu with the subject “Core Enhancement Grant” by 5 p.m. on Feb. 23. Learn more

IRiS is focused on novel routes to innovation related to sensing research and sensor technology development and the institute began holding the Alloy Discussion Series last year as a way to stimulate public conversations. Each Alloy is held at a unique location around the city The next event of the series, "Sensing Space in Virtual Times" will be held from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Cincinnati Observatory. Free tickets are available for the event, which will also be available by livestream.
