Trauma Sensitive Yoga Series

If you--or a special woman you know--has experienced trauma of any kind, please let them know about this supportive class series.
Trauma is different for everyone and impacts us in a myriad of ways. Have you lost someone close to you? Had a recent change in close relationships? Been a victim of assault or discrimination? Involved in an accident? Worked in law enforcement, military, or as a first responder? Shared your life as a care taker? Take some time to invest in yourself, relax, and breathe.

Often, those who have suffered trauma endure a long healing process, both mentally and physically. It is our hope in
providing trauma-sensitive yoga that students will explore breathing, stretching, strengthening, and resting as tools to notice what we feel in our mind and body. Emphasis in this sensitive yoga series is to create a safe, non-judgmental space to explore and begin to rebuild your body and spirit. By developing a positive relationship with the body and learning calming techniques, students may learn strategies to deal with triggers in a safe manner.

Students in this class are in control of their body at all times. The instructor will offer suggestions and safe variations of all poses. This practice is one of self love and awareness, allowing students to make choices with their bodies.

No experience necessary. $25 for both sessions. Register here .

We strive to make the classes accessible to everybody regardless of physical ability. Please email Allison Kelley at kelleyalison11@gmail.com with any questions. Allison is certified in Trauma related yoga instruction and regularly leads Yoga for Veterans.

Sound Bath

Celebrate loving yourself this February and join Lindsey Johnston and Celina McKenzie from Body Rhythms Massage & Reflexology , for a soul-soothing evening of yoga and meditation through sound.

Practice will begin with yoga designed to open your heart and prepare the body for meditation. After being guided into a meditative state (laying down in savasana), you will then be left to swim in the sound of the singing bowls.

Celina's Singing Bowls produce a vibration that can be heard as a singular tone. The tone produced by each bowl resonates with a specific chakra or energetic area of your body. These sessions are wonderful for calming both the mind and body and resetting your entire energetic being.

Basic props are provided, but please bring what you need so you can be comfortable laying down. We encourage you bring your own mat, a pillow, and consider bringing a pair of socks and a sweater or blanket to stay cozy!

Thursday, February 7th, 6:15- 7:30 PM
$30 per person

February Restorative Yoga

Reset yourself with an evening of restorative yoga and relaxation. Restorative yoga helps provide physical and mental balance to prevent stress and anxiety. Using props to allow you to hold poses longer, this practice gives you benefits of deep, passive stretching. A restorative yoga sequence typically involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends.

Join Allison on Wednesday 2/27 at 6:30 to beat the hump day slump and take a break from this busy season. Plan to bring 2 blankets to help in total relaxation.

$18 per person. There is limited space available, register now!

Meet the Instructor: Christine Stoeber

I started taking yoga classes in 2002 as a way to cross-train for triathlons. By the time I had my first child in 2007, I decided I needed yoga more than ever. I had pain in my body that was only relieved when I practiced yoga. Finally in 2015, I made the transition from a full-time corporate career to a yoga instructor. I completed my 200 Yoga Teacher Training from CorePower in 2015 and my group fitness certification in 2016.  I'm excited to recently complete 1000 hours of yoga instruction. I have been a certified downhill ski instructor for over 15 years and it reflects in my teaching style. My key objectives are: 1. Safety - If you get hurt, you're most likely not coming back. 2. Have Fun - If you're not having fun, why would you come back? and 3. Education - You're never to old to learn something new.

Join Christine for Yin Yoga at 6:15 on Sunday evenings. Yin is a slower paced practice, its poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Practicing 5-8 postures per class allows you to hold poses longer and cultivate an awareness of inner silence.
