Supreme Court Blocks OSHA ETS on Vaccine Mandates
The Supreme Court issued their much anticipated decision on OSHA's (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 'vaccine or test' Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS). By a 6-3 majority, the Court reinstated the stay that had been dissolved by the Sixth Circuit panel.
Key points of the decision:
  • OSHA exceeded its authority by trying to regulate a hazard that is not specific to the workplace; OSHA does not have authority to regulate public health.
  • To allow this regulation to remain in place would significantly expand OSHA's authority with no limiting principle.
  • Congress has not given OSHA specific enough authority to regulate such a broad hazard.
  • The case will now go back to the Sixth Circuit for further consideration on the merits of the challenge consistent with the Supreme Court's decision. Therefore, while blocked from going into effect, the ETS is not yet invalidated.

Every home in the U.S. is now eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are free and orders are supposed to ship in 7-12 days. Click here to learn more.

The Seneca County General Health District and Seneca County EMA have partnered to make it easier for Seneca County residents to get free rapid test kits. There are currently no test kits available. However, when the next shipment arrives they will be distributed Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seneca County EMA office, 126 Hopewell Avenue in Tiffin. Exciting Announcements & Events from
ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital
Fostoria has a new provider!
Please join us in welcoming Jessica Gagen, APRN-FNP. Jessica is now part of ProMedica Physicians Family Medicine located at 455 W. Fourth Street, and will be diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, performing physical assessments and procedures, ordering tests, prescribing medication, and providing preventive care.
Our caregiving footprint is expanding in Fostoria. The Good Shepherd Nursing Home is welcoming a family practice physician office that will be located at 751 Columbus Ave. The office will house ProMedica providers and is expected to open in the coming weeks. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be scheduled in the Spring.
The 18th annual Red Dress Luncheon is slated to happen on Fri. Feb. 4 from noon - 1:00 p.m. With anticipation of an in-person event, a heart attack survivor, Mimi Schaffner, is planning to share her heart health story. An in-person event would also plan to feature community leaders as celebrity waiters, door prizes and more.
Because of continuing COVID concerns, this event may replicate the drive-thru experience that was done last year. In these circumstances, the drive-thru luncheon will include a heart healthy meal prepared by Greenbriar Catering of Carey, Ohio with celebrity waiters who will deliver the meal directly to your car.
You may also order meals to be delivered to an area business or residence by one of the celebrity waiters. A minimum of five meals per order is required for delivery. Please consider making a donation to the American Heart Association by tipping your celebrity waiter.
Please note a future decision regarding an in-person or drive-thru event will be made as the date approaches.
Registration is required and costs $13. This includes a healthy, catered lunch and a donation to the AHA. The luncheon fee must be prepaid by Friday, January 28. To register for the event, please call Becky Bouillon at 419-436-6688 or email becky.bouillon@promedica.org.
Our members are doing GREAT things!
On Friday, January 14 Good Shepherd Home hosted a Dusty Shoe Tour of their new medical office building. The medical offices are a partnership between Good Shepherd Home, ProMedica and Ohio Living Hospice.

A dedication and ribbon cutting will take place this spring.
