Hello Glastonbury!
As the year starts to hit its stride in February, so does the demand for bringing family members to appointments, practices, lessons, and more – rushing to get there on time so we can wait for them to be ready to go home. We’ve all sighed over the old issues of magazines in waiting rooms, but did you know you have a whole newsstand of current editions in your pocket? Many of you are aware that WTML circulates print magazines – dozens of titles on nearly every topic - but did you also know that you can check out and subscribe to magazines on Libby, our free eBook/eAudio book/eMagazine app as well? Between our physical and digital collections, you have access to over a thousand periodicals, aimed at audiences interested in everything from technology to woodworking to nature to astronomy. You can check out every issue of Bride magazine while you plan your wedding, read several different travel magazines as you prepare for a trip, get tips on training for your next half-marathon, read a magazine in your first language (or the language you’re trying to learn!), bookmark some new recipes for Valentine’s Day (or National Chili Day, if you prefer), learn the latest in Leadership strategies, and so much more. With Libby on your mobile device and your library card in your pocket, you can always have magazines with you so that when you’re stuck in the stands or a waiting room or the car (again), you always have something to read.
Happy reading,
Amy
PS – Speaking of having articles in your pocket, we’ve completed the next phase in our digitization project of local newspapers. WTML’s Glastonbury Community History Archive now includes newspapers from 1948 – 1975!
