Partner Spotlight

The Midland RockHounds are the Double A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics and the Four-peat Texas League Champions. They are one of two teams in the 130 year history of the Texas League to win four consecutive championships. The organization has been providing family fun and entertainment since 1972!

Security Bank Ballpark is home to the Midland RockHounds. Included at the stadium are the ProPetro Diamond Club, a splash pad, picnic areas, luxury suites, a playground, souvenir shop, and the Union Pacific Train that takes you on a ride around the stadium. There is something for the whole family at a RockHounds game. 

In November 2017, Baseball America named the Midland Rockhounds its 2017 Minor League Team of the Year. 

Midland will be the host location for the 2018 Texas League All-Star Game June 26th. Along with the game, a home run derby will take place and a number of special guests will be present.

Portraits of Courage -  The Museum of the Southwest is the first venue selected nationwide to host Portraits of Courage in 2018. See a vibrant collection of oil paintings by  President George W. Bush, and the stories of the warriors they represent, honoring the sacrifice and courage of America's military servicemen and women.

West Texas Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show -  This is an annual pure-bred dog show sanctioned by the American Kennel Club. Don't miss this world-class event at the Midland County Horseshoe.

West Texas Classic Softball Tournament - This will be the 22nd year of this annual tournament hosted by the Lee High & Midland High Softball Booster Clubs.
First Quarter Wrap Up

VisitMidland worked with 30 groups over the first quarter for a total of 5,522 total rooms blocked, which totaled 7,007 visitors to Midland. The estimated economic impact these groups brought to Midland was $5,466,397.

Midland Convention Center Update

A press conference was held February 1st announcing project updates and introductory rental rates were released to the public. The Midland Convention Center is scheduled to open in September 2019, and will include a 20,000 square foot Exhibit Hall, 6,000 square foot Ballroom, and 3,000 square foot Meeting Room. Amenities include an 800 square foot hospitality suite with restroom and shower, cutting edge kitchen facilities, state of the art audio/visual and technology capabilities and the ability to have multiple large and small events occurring simultaneously.

Manuel Luna, Sales & Servicing Manager, joined VisitMidland in April 2016. He decided it was time for a career change after working in the Oil & Gas industry for 10 years. He started as Sales Specialist and has since transitioned into the role of Customer Service Manager. Manuel currently serves on the Sub Grant Committee for the Arts Council of Midland, the Star Spangled Salute Committee and is an active member at Stonegate Fellowship where he volunteers with the youth programs and the annual youth camp.
