February is upon us, and even though I love the winter season, this latest storm and cold spell has me looking forward to warmer weather and less snow. Our Parks Superintendent has been helping out the public works team with clearing all of the snow this past month, so I am sure he is ready for spring to come soon.
The rest of the Parks and Recreation team is hard at work planning our 2026 lineup of events, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in attendance this year. On that note, we are always looking for volunteers to help support these events, especially for our Earth Day Celebration which is on Saturday, April 25th this year. If you or someone you know is looking for opportunities to get involved with your community, please reach out to us for information on how you can give back to Woodbury.
February does have a number of opportunities to try something new. For the first time we are offering a Beginner Italian Language and Culture class; perfect for anyone looking to pick up a new skill or planning a future trip to Italy. With Valentineโs Day this month, we have two dance opportunities to share with someone special. We have an Introduction to Swing Dance class for adults and a Daddy-Daughter Sweetheart Dance for elementary schoolers, both on Saturday, February 7th.
As we all try to make it through these colder months, I hope you are still finding ways to keep active and get some sunshine in your days. Whether itโs walking the dog or going for a hike, it is still great to spend some time out in the fresh air (as long as you bundle up). In that spirit, we do have our 250 for 250 Fitness Challenge underway. If you sign up on our website, you can track the miles you actively cover from now until the end of June, with all finishers being recognized at our Summer Concert Series kickoff on July 8th.
With that, I hope this month starts to bring some warmer weather and less snow to shovel. Find ways to stay active and spend time with friends and family, and maybe even some new faces if you try out any of our programs. Please take a look at this newsletter to find out more about all we have to offer, and thank you for being a part of this wonderful community.
Sincerely,
Graham Musson
