February Happenings

Dear Friends,

The fabulous thing about working at a garden center is that even while it is still snowy and frigidly cold outside, we can start planning for our up-and-coming gardening season! We received a delivery of flower seeds (see below) which is already brightening up the shop. And Heather's Blog provides some ideas for bringing some green into your home during the winter. Hang in there--the earth will be warming up and greening up before you know it!

We have several events in February (see below) as well as some new initiatives starting in February and March which we are excited about!

Loyalty Program: We will be starting a loyalty to program in The Garden Center/Craft Beer Center and in The Wine & Spirits Shop! We so appreciate you--our ever-loyal customers--and we want to reward you! While we are still hammering out the details, you will earn points for every dollar you spend, and you will be able to redeem those points with future purchases. As soon as it is up and running in February, we will let you know!
Wine Club: To all wine lovers out there we are thrilled to announce our new wine club here at East Branch Organics! Read more about it below, but we think this will be a fun and educational way to discover some new and unique wines. We hope you will give it a whirl!

We will have lovely bouquets for Valentine's Day! If you have something special in mind, we encourage pre-orders. However, we will also have some "grab-and-go" bouquets if you stop by the shop on February 13 or14.

Heather's Blog

When the colorful lights of the holidays are in the rearview mirror, and spring seems so far away, even the most diehard of snow enthusiasts will find that their eyes need the balm of living color inside the house, as a respite from the exterior world which is covered in white. Houseplants are a wonderful way to appease this need, and I’ve been able to expand my interior garden scape in the past couple of years.

Flower Seeds!

Check out our new "Scatter Garden" seeds from Renée's Garden! We have four different collections: Wildflowers, Pollinator Flowers, Summer Sunflowers and Rainbow Zinnias. We can't wait to experiment with these easy seed collections this summer! This would make a delightful Valentine's gift--or thinking ahead, a lovely addition to an Easter Basket!

Empty Bowl Full Heart

Every year we look forward to being temporary custodians of some of the gorgeous handmade pottery bowls that remain from the Empty Bowl Full Heart Event. After the community lunch at Keene Central School on February 15, we will receive a delivery of lovely bowls made by many different local potters that we can sell to you. The full dollar amount you spend goes towards supporting local initiatives to fight hunger. This fundraiser was started to honor Carmina Leabres, remembering her loving contributions to the community.

Join Our New Wine Club!

Our new wine club will be a great way to discover unique and affordable wines! Our monthly selections will come with notes discussing the wine and the producer, along with recommended food pairings. There will be a theme to each month's selections, making the wine club a great way to learn about wine basics, wine regions, and both common and uncommon varietals. Club membership includes one red and one white wine per month--these are special bottles just chosen for the club (although if we receive positive feedback, we may bring them into the shop as well). Talk to us if you prefer only whites or reds, and we will happily provide a substitution. You will be charged $36 on the 1st of every month and your monthly club selection will be available to pick up on the first Friday of every month. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time. We also have 3-month and 6-month subscriptions that make great gifts as well!

When you sign up now you will be charged on March 1 and your first selection will be available for pick up on Friday March 6.

Keene Valley Library

Join me (Emily) at the Keene Valley Library as part of the library's "Cabin Fever Sunday" series. We will be talking all things wine related so come with your wine questions! My goal is to spark people's curiosity about wine as well as to make everyone more comfortable and adventurous when choosing wines in a shop or on a restaurant's wine list.

Wine Tasting: Wines under $20

Saturday, February 14, 3:30-5:30

Taste some of the newest wines in the shop, all of which are under $20. These are fantastic every day wines all made by independent winemakers who take care of the land and make delicious wines. If you find something you like, pick up a bottle for Valentine's Day!The tasting is free and any wines purchased will have a 10% discount. Stop by any time between 3:30 and 5:30!
