"It's confusing...do we wear a mask...and if so, where?  Inside a store or outside in public? If we wear a mask, which kind is better.... an N-95 or a blue paper one? Do we get vaccinated...and if so, how many times?  Hugs..or elbows? What are we supposed to do to protect ourselves and our families? There are no simple answers. We have learned throughout our lives how to protect ourselves against highly infectious diseases. Even though exotic, this one is no different. What is different today is the loneliness and depression caused by severe isolation. The remedy? Let's stick together as one family, knowing that we are much stronger together than when we are apart.."

Your County Commissioner,

Preserving The Agricultural Reserve
Imagine having an area of wide-open spaces, farm-to-table restaurants featuring Florida organic foods, and plenty of playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities.  This is what we could have in the Agricultural Reserve, belonging to us here in Palm Beach County.

I have represented this area in the State Legislature working with representatives from 67 counties.  There is only one Agricultural Reserve in the entire state. Its unique soil and geography place it as an area of special protection.

We on the County Commission have an obligation to preserve, protect and promote open spaces not just for our families today but for those who will one day make this their home.

Every February, the U.S. honors the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who have helped shape the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs, and adversities that are an indelible part of our country's history.

Black History Month was first recognized by President Gerald Ford in 1976. President Ford challenged the American people to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”

The tapestry of our American culture is richer because of our diversity. Our strength is in our multi-faceted culturalism. There is no country quite like the USA!

Recycling at Work

Palm Beach County businesses generate more than half of the 2.5 million tons of solid waste generated in Palm Beach County every year. Much of this waste is highly recyclable cardboard and office paper.

Business participation is critical to helping the SWA achieve the state's 75% waste reduction goal. That's why the SWA is committed to helping businesses recycle by providing free waste reviews and technical support.

How Your Company Can Reduce Waste
  • Buy products made from recyclable material
  • Incorporate policies requiring recycled content when purchasing
  • Order supplies in bulk to reduce packaging
  • Contract with environmentally responsible companies

If You Can't Recycle at Work
If recycling isn't available in your office or building, you can still recycle. The SWA provides recycling drop-off locations throughout Palm Beach County. There's one near you.
