The latest news from UNC Greensboro's University Libraries.

A Message from Michael Crumpton, Dean

Happy New Year! The excitement of a new year brings hope and the promise of a new beginning and fresh perspectives. Even though the year has started colder and more active weather-wise than expected, we have endeavored to maintain our services as best as we can for our students, staff, and faculty. With closures this week related to snow and hazardous travel conditions, we are promoting our virtual services by making sure users know their options for online resources, including research guides and tutorials (among many other things). We’ve also been very active with our "Ask Us" chat services, knowing that students and faculty are engaged in remote learning and in need of assistance from library employees, who are ready and available to support our campus.

We will continue to be here virtually as needed and welcome the day when spring finally comes (no matter what the groundhog says!). When it is safe to do so again, we look forward to providing services and spaces in person - our online resources will also continue to be available.

We have many things planned for the spring, including our Greensboro Bound sponsorship of author Casey McQuiston on April 9th, which will be entertaining and insightful. Details are available below and registration will open in March. Spring is awards season, so we’ll be focusing on our student research awards and library staff/faculty awards. The renovation continues to move forward "brick by brick."

Be careful out there and we hope to see you soon.

Spotlight on Student Workers

The UNCG University Libraries employ dozens of student workers representing a wide range of backgrounds, academic interests, and experiences. Each month we share an interview with a library student worker. This month's student interviewee is H. Blake-Lee, who works for the department of Research, Outreach, and Instruction (ROI) and the Digital Media Commons (DMC).

We'd also like to thank all those who contributed to our Holiday Giving Project. We were able to raise more than $1,100 to benefit the Spartan Open Pantry.
