Climate Change & Ocean Acidification

Thursday, Feb. 8th- 2:00pm


Climate change affects plants, animals and ecosystems locally in many ways. Learn the basic concepts of climate change and its effects on the Bay, what a carbon footprint is and how humans impact fragile ecological cycles. (Please note this program is geared towards adults)

These classes will teach "Inner Light Meditation" which is an ancient and powerful technique designed to elevate the consciousness and increase our awareness of our true inner self. There are no restrictions on age, health status, fitness or flexibility. Registration is required.

Genealogy Club

The Genealogy group meets at the library once a month and new members are always welcome! The group is made up of family historians interested in sharing resources and tips to accurately find their ancestors while helping others with their search.

Based on the real life of Lieutenant Annie Fox, Chief Nurse of Hickam Hospital, The Woman with a Purple Heart is an inspiring WWII novel of heroic leadership, courage, and friendship that also exposes a shocking and shameful side of history. So,You Think You Know Rhode Island? lays out a significant base of knowledge for each region of the state, including famous men and women who are important to each community. A section, "Do You Know," brings forth some little-known facts that contribute to the distinctness of Rhode Island. Copies of the book will be available. Registration Required.

Restoring Salt Marsh in the Chafee National Wildlife Refuge

Sunday, Feb. 25th- 1:00pm


Nick Ernst, Wildlife Biologist, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and Ben Gaspar, Restoration Ecologist at Save the Bay, will update us on the sediment placement projects in the Narrow River and other refuge locations to stave off the threats from sea level rise to the salt marshes. Registration will open on Feb.1st.

Families with children ages 5-12 are invited to do a yoga class with Ms. Sarah! Please bring a yoga mat if you have it or a towel and wear comfy clothes. Registration required.

Teens ages 12-18 are invited to make a Valentine painting! Each participant will get a canvas and step-by-step instruction to complete their painting. Registration required.

Miss Gianna's Music Time!

Friday, Feb. 23rd- 10:00am


Families with children ages 0-8 are invited to join us for a music class! Miss. Gianna will be sharing her talents on the guitar and teaching simple songs and rhymes to children with a few instruments. Registration is required and will begin Feb. 9th.

Dave Marchetti's Animal Experiences!

Saturday, Feb. 24th- 11:00am


Children and families of all ages are invited to come to see Dave Marchetti's Animals! Dave brings in an assortment of reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals to teach us about them. Children will also have the opportunity to touch and/or hold these animals if they choose to. Registration is required and begins on February 10th.

Narragansett Library

Monthly Meeting- Monday, Feb. 5th at 1:00pm. All are welcome.


Save the Date! Stone Soup is being held on Saturday, March 2nd at 12:00pm.


Coinciding with this event the Friends is sponsoring their Annual Food Drive for the benefit of the Community Market at St. Peter’s by the Sea Church on March 2- March 30. Please donate a non-perishable food or personal hygiene item or monetary donation. Donations can be dropped off at the library front foyer or bring your donation to the Stone Soup event.
