1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Newton County Public Library has partnered with 1000 Books Foundation to offer 1000 Books before Kindergarten (1000BooksB4K) for children in our communities. The objectives of 1000 Books Foundation are simple – promote reading to newborns, infants and toddlers, and encourage parent and child bonding through reading.

Lake Village, Morocco and Roselawn Libraries have information sheets, log sheets & bookmarks for parents interested in the program.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a 60-volume set of books beginning with the children’s classic The Little Engine That Could. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. Best of all it is a FREE GIFT! There is no cost or obligation to your family.

Preschool children ages birth to five who are residents of Newton County.

Builders Club

Come enjoy some Lego fun! Students in grades K through 6 will be given different Lego challenges to build and complete! Creations will be put on display at the Library.

All Abilities Club

Teens and Adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities are invited to create, experiment and have fun with art, science and technology at the library! Our building is handicap accessible. Caregivers are asked to stay in the room. Come join the fun!

Itty Bitty Love

Little love is in the air! Babies ages 0-23 months and their caregivers are invited to a storytime based on love! We will read lovely stories, sing our hearts out, learn finger plays, and even complete a simple craft!

Lovely Toddler Time

Your toddlers ages 2-3 years old will have a lovely time at our “Lovely Toddler Time!” Caregivers and toddlers are invited to a lovely storytime! We will sing and dance to our heart’s content, read sweet stories, and complete a heartfelt craft!

Spread some love at the Library with our “Lovely Storytime!” Children ages 4-5 years and their caregivers are invited to listen to heartfelt stories, sing and dance to the beat of our hearts, and make a lovely craft!

Spy Training

Do you have what it takes to go through spy training? Test your gut and brains here at the library! Spies will target practice with foam darts, learn how to make codes, learn to keep their nerve through interrogation, and more! Everyone will be required to sign a liability waiver to participate. Grades K-2nd

Books'n'Bubs

Books ‘n’ Bubs is a book club for adults and a play date for children! Don’t worry about finding a sitter for book club, bring the children along for a fun hour of play while you relax for a book chat discussion! Don’t have any children? Join us anyway! Newton County Public Library has partnered to provide this awesome program! Beaver Lake and the Draining of the Kankakee Marsh

Presented by Professor Michael Dobberstein of Purdue University

Join us for a presentation on the history and draining of Beaver Lake and The Grand Kankakee Marsh. An informative look at the area of the river during the 1800's and early 1900's will allow each participant to leave with new knowledge regarding the area they call home.
