Celebrating 50 years
See You at the 50th Annual VOS Conference!

Dear VOS Members,

As I am writing this, it is three weeks until we kick off the 50th Annual Conference of the VOS in Big Sky, Montana. The snow measures 77 inches on the mountain and 50 inches at the base with 6-12 inches of new snow on the way this week. It is shaping up to be a great week whether you're skiing, mushing sled dogs, or watching wildlife.

On the science side, we’ve got a poignant program, full of advanced abstracts and pivotal posters. The Jacques Jenny lecture series features the distinguished Dr. Samir Mehta’s terrific talks:

  1. Building Resilience & Grit in Health Care Professionals
  2. Osteomyelitis – How Far We Haven’t Come
  3. Working in the Developing World – Surgery in Austere Environments
  4. Dual Construct Fixation – A Page Out of Animal Surgery
Wanda Gordon-Evans
Sunday, visit the eager exhibitors in the Exhibitors Showcase, and Wednesday is the fabulous Foundation Night with the magnificent mentalist Mark Toland. Top it all off with the golden anniversary Gala with festive food, awesome awards, dynamic drinks including the Fractured Mule (Moscow mule served in a VOS souvenir cup), and a nod to nostalgia.

I can’t wait to see you there!

Volunteers Wanted for VOS!
We want you graphic
Dear VOS Family,

I hope that everyone is doing well. As we get closer to our conference, I wanted to once again reach out to our members to consider taking a more active role in your organization.

We are always looking for volunteers to either be part of our Board of Directors or help us during our conference. Next year we will be searching for nominees for President-Elect, Exhibit Chair (4 years total; 2 years as Exhibit Chair, 2 years as Sponsor Chair), and Assistant Director Education Foundation (4 years total; 2 years as Assistant Director, 2 years as Director). We are also in need of help during our conference to serve as Session Moderators, Poster, and Podium Judging, etc. So please, if you want to get involved, just do it!

To all of you interested, feel free to send Heidi DeCamp (secretary@vosdvm.org) or me (jmgarcia@upenn.edu) an email letting us know your interest. As you know, the VOS is a small organization that is truly run by its members, and we want all of you who might be interested in helping and continuing to make a difference in our organization to be able to put your name forward. You can truly make a tangible difference, and I guarantee you that not only will it be a hugely fulfilling experience, it will also be tons of fun!
