Black History Month from the

Oregon Society of Physician Associates!

The Oregon Society of Physician Associates (OSPA) proudly celebrates Black History Month, honoring the invaluable contributions of Black healthcare professionals in shaping medicine and advancing health equity. This month, we recognize the legacy of pioneers who paved the way for equitable healthcare and reaffirm our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and advocacy within the PA profession. Together, let’s celebrate, learn, and continue uplifting this powerful legacy.

Mentoring

OSPA is proud to have partnered with the Oregon Medical Education Fund (OMEF) on providing mentors to PA students who are looking for support during their academic years. The program is a great way for PAs to share their experience and knowledge with PAs who are on the verge of entering the professional field.

Member Spotlight

Erin Cramer PA-C, served on the Oregon Medical Board from mid-2018 to January 2025, taking on roles as a member, Secretary, and eventually Chair. Throughout his tenure, he was actively involved in both the Administrative Affairs and Investigative Committees, where he played a crucial role in evaluating malpractice cases, assessing the competency of licensees with substance use or mental health challenges, and shaping policies to enhance healthcare standards. His work prioritized the safety of Oregon citizens while also recognizing the importance of supporting the health and well-being of medical professionals.

Despite the demanding workload, he found the experience highly rewarding, as it allowed him to contribute to policy improvements and collaborate with professional organizations to enhance healthcare access and quality in Oregon. His participation in committee work helped distribute the effort beyond the quarterly board meetings, making the commitment more manageable. While he feels some disappointment that his term has ended, he is encouraged by the continued PA representation on the board, now with two experienced and passionate PAs helping to shape the future of medical regulation in the state.

Membership

Welcome to the 2025 Membership Year! It is now time for all members to pay their dues, and your 2025 dues invoice has been sent to you form our Executive Director at email mike@aminc.org. 25.5% of dues are used to cover OSPA lobbying costs - lobbying that produces results like our Collaborative Practice, and most recently, becoming the first state in the nation to be legally known as Physician Associates. Dues are a critical part of how we advocate for the PA Profession.

Legislation

Save the date and request PTO for the return of Capitol Day April 9th, 2025. Come join us for a day on the Hill meeting with legislators on importance of PA bills. If you want to be involved the Government Affairs Committee please let us know. We would love to have you.
