Dear Panther Parents,
Winter decided to move in with a bang!! (And those who know me, know I can’t stand being cold!!!). Reminder that MISD will make decisions on school cancellations by 5:30am or earlier on days we are expecting inclement weather. Please stay tuned to local broadcasts, social media, and MISD emails for these updates.
Reminder: Monday is a student holiday and TUESDAY is an ASYNCHRONOUS (no Zoom nor school attendance) DAY. Students will work on missing assignments, late work, study to get ahead, etc. Teachers MAY post OPTIONAL assignments for students who want to engage in subject work that day. Grades will not be given for those assignments…this is for the purpose of enrichment. We will see everyone back on campus WEDNESDAY, weather permitting.
For our incoming 7th and 8th graders, make sure your course selection cards are turned in by February 23rd
Progress Reports will be viewable via HAC middle of next week. Don’t forget that students can access our late tutorial buses on February 18th, 23rd, and 25th. Please encourage your kiddo to take advantage of this extra help.
I hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day and STAY WARM,

Happy Friday,

Patricia Spear, counselor L-Z,
Dear Panther Families, We believe it takes the entire community to help our students grow into kind and compassionate young adults. Your student(s) receives a weekly CharacterDare on Mondays during Panther Time that is an actionable challenge focused on strengthening one of their “character muscles” like patience, kindness, commitment etc… The program we use, CharacterStrong, also provides Family CharacterDares that are aimed to provide actionable ways families can strengthen relationships, engage in character development activities together and continue conversations around serving others, and showing empathy and kindness for others. There are four categories of Dares:
• Conversation Starters
• Acts of Kindness
• Recreation and Rest
• Expressions of Love

Each week we will send out a Family CharacterDare that we challenge you to do with your students. The staff and administrators in the building will also be engaging in this personal character development as well. We believe in the power of role-modeling this work, and we have no doubt that with this common goal in mind, we are creating a more caring, compassionate, and capable world. You can go to if you would like to learn more about it or contact Cathy DeLisle ( with any questions.
6th grade students need to turn in proof of immunization requirements BEFORE May 14th to get their schedule and attend 7th grade next fall. Texas State Law requires that 7th grade students for the 2021/22 school year show proof of the following immunizations:

Your child may have already had these immunizations. Please provide the school nurse with a current list of your student's immunizations.
Please make sure that your student receives any needed immunizations before the end of this school year!
It is necessary for your child to be in compliance before they can attend 7th grade.

Molly Frost is FED UP...

Because Olivia was yelled at for wearing a tank top when she had to keep her sweatshirt wrapped around her waist.
Because Liza got dress coded and Molly didn't, even though they were wearing the exact same outfit.
Because when Jessica was pulled over by the principal and missed a math quiz, her teacher gave her an F.
Because it's impossible to find shorts that are longer than her fingertips.
Because girls' bodies are not a distraction.
Because middle school is hard enough.
And so Molly starts a podcast where girls can tell their stories, and soon her small rebellion swells into a revolution. Because now the girls are standing up for what's right, and they're not backing down.
