February Museletter
For the Love of Heart

"A nation's culture resides in the hearts & in the soul of its people"
- Mahatma Gandhi

As I question whether or not the direction of the February Museletter should lean more toward the relevance of our practice to our physical heartscape or to lean more toward the spiritual beautifier of love as a gift from Source, within us, as a collective...

I find my wobble. Then I find my shake. Then I recognize my projection. Then my notion that no matter which way I go, the heart is all around. It is not an either/or. It is at the center of it all, both of science and of spirit.

I am planted into stillness, but underneath the surface there is something stirring like the seeds in the ground during this time of the year - Imbolc in the Gaelic tradition (2/1/19) - midway between Winter & Spring Equinox.

Then I bathe myself in it- this love, this churning. I feel the release. I envision it. I steep in it. The wave of love cleanses my body and engages my sense of being. I laugh! I weep! I feel! It's sacred, yet something that cannot be hidden and is an abundant joy to share.

The bird, it circles. The cage looks different now.

Be good to your hearts, friends, as it is an organ of knowledge. Whether you think of the heart in your left chest, to your right, near your stomach, as friend or foe, do remember that our awakening heart can help transform our lives - our direct presence, our sense of belonging, our capacity to trust and to move with grace and ease...to contradict ego and to heal chasms.

Love holds the Universe together.

Do you write to your heart? Sing to it? Shush it? Shame it? Believe in it? Embrace it? Get it pumping? What's with all this "love and light" stuff?

Imagine your heart chakra filling with light. Entering through any hard casings - finding its way, accepting positive frequencies & vibrating with this love beyond the chambers. Once you've filled yourself, see how you can share it intentionally with others, verbally or silently, and may it be good for your soul and our collective system.

In love and light,
Heather

Stepping onto the mat for a little yoga is one of the best things you can do for your heart. The latest research finds yoga enhances cardiovascular health in a number of ways, from calming the nervous system and reducing disease-causing inflammation to taming hypertension and boosting beneficial HDL cholesterol. It also improves circulation and lung function, and may even reduce heart disease risk as effectively as brisk walking and cycling. That’s good news for yogis of all levels, including men, who now account for nearly one in five people doing yoga. These relaxing yoga poses are particularly good for heart health.

They say what's good for your heart is good for your brain, too!

Staying physically active, socially connected, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are key in both preventing or delaying diseases like Dementia, and living well despite any diagnosis!

Embodiment Series: Moving through the Tissues with Erin
Tuesdays 6:00-7:30 for 4 weeks, starting February 5th
We all know that muscles make us move, but do we know what it feels like to be in all our tissues when we move? What does it feel like when we focus on our skin, fascia, or bones? In this 4-week series we will explore what it feels like to initiate movement from different tissues and to "listen" to what each "says". We will also explore what it feels like to "share energy" throughout the rest of the body with areas that feel depleted or less energetic than others.

Ignite Your Sacred Center

Through out the phases of our lives, our wombs have many roles. Some we embody for a season, others overlap several, while a few remain with us for the entirety of our lives. Having a deep and resonant connection to the muscles and neural structures of your pelvic floor and energetic womb will bring a heightened sense of aliveness to your everyday life.

In our time together we will use Somatic Yoga and Yoga Nidra to:

+ Strengthen your pelvic floor muscles
    + Reestablish a coherent brain-body-yoni connection
+ Awaken your physical and emotional vitality
    + Re-sculpt your feminine presence

Whether it’s your time of full fertility or the other end, time to explore your creative expression, this workshop will lead you to elevate your sense of aliveness, playfulness and creative expression while stimulating a re-birth from the inside out.

I have the match.

Are you ready to be a flame?

Second Saturdays, 1:30-3:30pm
Registration Recommended.
Meet JeanMarie Murphy, RYT 500

As part of recovering from years of bookkeeping (and only teaching yoga as a hobby) Jean Marie entered the world of mind-body medicine earning her RYT 500 as a Kripalu yoga teacher.

From the Integral Yoga Institute (Satchidananda Ashram) she received a cardiac yoga teacher certification and within that training she learned Laughter Yoga (1997). As her version of post graduate work, she received certification from The Academy for Guided Imagery and The Muscular Therapy Institute.

In these extensive multi-year trainings she developed her passion for neuroscience, psychoneuroimmunology, anatomy and physiology and her skill as a conscious embodiment coach.
After years of teaching to the patients and staff in hospital and hospice settings, her focus of enhancing somatic awareness and consciousness embodiment has shifted to working with individuals taking up the leadership of their lives.

As a process called Engaging Your Wholeness, she teaches Yoga Nidra, Laughter Yoga and her specialized pelvic floor somatic yoga series for women transitioning into peri-menopause and menopause. She hosts a monthly program called Feed Your Juicy that includes a monthly themed yoga nidra recording and a free Q & A tele-seminar on the New and Full Moon. JeanMarie can be reached at  engagingyourwholeness.com
