This February, we have something for everyone to love at Markesan Public Library!

Stop in to check out our ever-expanding Library of Things -- we have new board games, card games, and puzzles! We also have experience passes you can check out to the Fond du Lac Children's Museum, Wisconsin Historical Society locations, and more! We have events this month for people who love books, crafts, and birds. We have events for kids who love to play and create. Keep reading to find out more!


State and federal tax forms are now available in the library. If there are specific forms you need to print off, we are happy to help you, too.


We want to remind you that if you are concerned about coming to the library to return items due to illness or poor weather conditions, you can call us at (920) 398-3434 or email [email protected]. We can renew items over the phone in most cases. We can also bring items to your car by curbside pickup, if you call ahead and schedule a pickup time.


Unfortunately, the Winnefox Mobile App is still unavailable. You can use your internet browser to renew items, place holds, etc. online. You can also sign up for Shoutbomb. This lets you receive notifications by text message, as well as renew items with your phone.

Try our Winter Reading Bingo Challenge!

Tuesday, January 2 - Thursday, February 29


Turn in a completed bingo card before the end of February, and you'll be entered into a prize drawing! We have different challenges for each age group. You can pick up bingo cards at the checkout desk, and we will soon have them available to print off from home on our website.

Lego Club

Monday, February 5 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm


On Monday, February 5 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, kids are welcome to the library for Lego Club! We'll provide lots of Legos, you bring your creativity! Make amazing Lego creations with your friends after school. We'll have a theme that you can follow, or make something entirely on your own.

Card making class

Monday, February 12 @ 3:00 pm


On Monday, February 12 @ 3:00 pm, come learn how to make 3 beautiful cards with experienced card maker Pamela Werth! She'll bring all the inks, paper, and other supplies. Only $5.00 to cover the cost of supplies.

Valentine's Day Tea

On Tuesday, February 13 @ 1:00 pm, you're cordially invited to a tea party at the library. Bring your favorite piece of jewelry, and share its story while enjoying tea and other light refreshments!

Play & Learn

Wednesday, February 14 & 28 @ 9:30 am


Play & Learn is held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 9:30 am. Fun games and activities for children ages 9 months to 6 years old. Provided by Children's Wisconsin.

Make Your Own Pinecone Bird Feeder

Monday, February 26 @ 4:30 pm


On Monday, February 26 at 4:30 pm, make your own pinecone birdfeeder that you can use to feed birds in your backyard this winter! *This craft will use peanut butter* All ages are welcome.

Book Club:

"The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley

Wednesday, February 28 @ 6:00 pm


On Wednesday, February 28 at 6:00 pm, the Book Club will meet for a discussion about "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" by Alan Bradley. Copies are available in regular print, large print, and audiobook editions in a special display in our fiction section. "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" is the first book in Bradley's award-winning mystery series. We are introduced to Flavia de Luce, an eleven-year old girl with a penchant for chemistry, and poisons in particular. She needs to use her intelligence and skills to clear her father's name after he is accused of murder.


Ongoing Programs

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (birth to 5 years old): This challenge is is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success! Any child ages birth to five years can participate. Each time you read 100 books, bring your reading record to the library to receive a special reward. At 1,000 books read, come celebrate at the library, see your child’s name placed on the 1,000 Book Wall of Fame, and receive a free book. Pick up a log sheet at the library, or download one by clicking here to get started!

We are excited to announce that you can now check out passes to the Fond du Lac Children's Museum, daily passes to Wisconsin State Parks, Historical Society passes and more!


The Historical Society passes can be used at several locations, including Circus World in Baraboo and Old World Wisconsin in Eagle. Click here to see a map and event schedule for all the different Wisconsin Historical Society sites!

WiFi hotspots available for checkout


Now that the summer is over, our WiFi Hotspots have more availability. If you were interested in the past, but thought that the wait time was too long, we encourage you to call us at (920) 398-3434. Availability is usually much better over the winter months.


Hotspots can be checked out for 2 weeks. They are very simple to use and connect to!
