Understanding Homelessness

Our mission is to serve the community, and that includes helping everyone understand the stories of the unhoused. Recently, KPIX told Jim and Sherry's story of perseverance after an unfortunate accident left them homeless for years. The couple now lives in affordable senior housing, and with our help is able to stay housed through wrap-around services and case management. Watch the clip below! Additionally, one of our Housing Services Care Managers visited Bishop O’Dowd High School to speak on how homelessness affects the community.

Disaster Emergency Services For All

Our Disaster Emergency Services Program Manager was recently interviewed on Hecho en California! She shared information about funding and support for those affected by the storms last winter. Expanding Outreach For Mental Health

We love getting out in the community! Chief Program Officer Lisa Carlisle and Restorative Practices Training and Community Healing Manager Aswad Aarif have been hosting a three-part series at St. Columba Church in Oakland. Their goals are to discuss restorative practices, impacts of trauma, and youth and adolescent mental health and wellness. This series is part of an ongoing community outreach effort by Catholic Charities East Bay to open a dialogue among community members and to build bridges that emphasize mutual trust and empowerment.
