In the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce Boardroom Gallery exhibition is “Creatures with Hindsight” showcasing the work of Studio Artist Daniel Porras . Porras is a painter and illustrator often using intuitive movements to create surreal landscapes and imaginative creatures.

Daniel Porras’s paintings will be exhibited in the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce boardroom, open to visitors for three First Thursdays: February 7th, March 7th, and April 4th, from 6pm to 9pm.
Studio Artist, Stuart Hamilton's meticulously rendered drawings and paintings are featured in the new corporate gallery space, Art@Work.  In collaboration with IDEA and Precision Dynamics International, the work space features Angels Gate Cultural Center studio artists in conversation with artists across the bridge in Long Beach. Jennifer Gunlock was chosen as the Long Beach artist through the Artist Registry of the Arts Council of Long Beach.

Art@Work will feature a rotating showcase of varied artistic voices of the South Bay every three months.

Studio Artist Leah Shane Dixon joins a group show at Proxy Place Gallery commemorating the 100 year anniversary of the March 1 movement that called for Korea’s independence from Japan. The show runs from February 2 to March 10, 2019 with the opening reception on Saturday, March 2nd, 3 to 5pm.

Studio Artist Da Aie Park , opens in a solo show at LA Artcore Gallery at the Union Center for the Arts on March 3rd, with the reception at 1 to 3pm and a conversation with the artist at 2pm. The show runs through March 31st. The LA Artcore Gallery is at 120 Judge John Aiso Street, Los Angeles, CA.

Shaggy Dog Stories and Other Tales
January 5th to March 23, 2019

This group exhibition includes recent work and collaborative projects by Kate Berlant and Natalie Labriola, Josh Callaghan, Wynne Greenwood and K8 Hardy, Alake Shilling, Roni Shneior, The Smudge, and Barak Zemer. Guest curated by Audrey Moyer and Paulina Samborska, Shaggy Dog Stories and Other Tales marks the first exhibition in Angels Gate Cultural Center’s Curatorial Takeover 2019.

Studio Sessions
New to our galleries is the Studio Sessions exhibition series which will feature work by a different Angels Gate Studio Artist every 5 weeks.

Currently several of long time Studio Artist Joyce Weiss's very large, vibrant painting adorn the gallery. Joyce is often quoted as saying "Color is my life- I use it at full volume."

Saturday Morning Clay Play

Saturdays, 11am – 2:00pm

Master how to hand-build beautiful ceramic vessels without a potter’s wheel. Seasoned ceramic instructor Lowell Nickel shows you the steps for the designing and construction of your projects. This class provides a survey of high fire clay, glazes and reduction firing.

Community Ceramic Studio Thursdays
A whole new shipment of clay has arrived marking the opening of our Ceramics Community Studio! Have you been looking for a place to create but don't have space, supplies, equipment? We DO!

Every Thursday starting February 20th from 4-8pm, Sara Pilchman will be in the studio creating work and answering your questions. Open Studio costs $20 (30% off for studio artists) for up to 4hr of studio use, with 1sq ft of bisque and high fire gas kiln space per session and basic glazes included. Clay will be available for purchase. Email  Sara@angelsgateart.org  to sign up and for inquiries for private lessons.
Raku Ceramics Workshop

Film and Dance Performances

Free screening of the film Albatross , Chris Jordan's intimate documentary on the seabird's journey to Midway Island.

SEA Pulse films, produced by Macdonald Productions and Dance 4 Oceans will comprise the film screening, including two short films ' A Mean to an End ' and  'Sometime Soon' by Bill Macdonald, dance performances by Vannia Ibarguen (Contemporary) and Kanna Kai Jones (Butoh) to express the messages, and a Q&A, which the audiences can receive the most current information about the subjects.

OPaf at Angels Gate
March 2nd and 3rd

The second annual Other Places art fair (OPaf) will take place March 2nd and 3rd, 2019, from noon to 5pm at Battery Leary-Merriam at Angels Gate Cultural Center.

OPaf features participants presenting site-specific booths encapsulating their projects and programming. Representing the growing movement of hard to define art project spaces, OPaf provides a custom art fair structure designed specifically for these unconventional projects.
