Millions in the United States lack access to water and sanitation, and climate change is exacerbating the challenge for frontline communities.


The Pacific Institute, in partnership with DigDeep and The Center for Water Security and Cooperation, released the first report in the series “Water, Sanitation, and Climate Change in the United States." Titled “Climate Change Impacts to Water and Sanitation for Frontline Communities in the United States,” this report underscores the crucial intersection of equity, water and sanitation, and climate change, and its profound impacts on frontline communities across the nation.

Water Action Hub Launches New Nature-Based Solutions Benefits Explorer Tool

The NBS Benefits Explorer Version 2 launched this month and is designed to serve as a key starting point for organizations looking to invest in Nature-Based Solutions. This web-based tool serves as a resource for those wishing to learn more about benefit identification, accounting, and valuation.


The NBS Benefits Explorer is part of the Water Action Hub, a global online collaboration and knowledge sharing platform for water sustainability and climate resilience, developed by the CEO Water Mandate.

Pacific Institute Continues to Advance Corporate Water Stewardship for Colorado River Basin

The Colorado River is shared among seven US states, two Mexican states, and 30 Native American tribes, providing water for more than 35 million people and supporting farms, cities, and ecosystems. However, overallocation and climate change have led to an increasing water deficit.


Action is needed from the private, public, and philanthropic sectors to ensure water resilience.


The Pacific Institute is working to advance Corporate Water Stewardship in the Basin by demonstrating the need and potential for CWS, driving greater alignment among all sectors, and highlighting and helping to scale good practices.

Upcoming Report Highlights Untapped Potential of Stormwater Capture in the United States

In partnership with 2NDNATURE, a new national assessment finds the significant untapped potential of stormwater capture across the United States.


The report calls for national guidelines to recognize stormwater capture and use as a vital water supply strategy, encouraging regional collaboration and expanding applications for stormwater use.

Shannon Spurlock, Pacific Institute Senior Researcher of Public Policy and Practice Uptake will be featured at the 2024 National WateReuse Symposium March 11-13.


Spurlock's sessions will focus on forging partnerships, stormwater, and social equity impacts from reuse projects.


This year, the Symposium will convene in Colorado: the first state to adopt comprehensive direct potable reuse regulations.

This month, Pacific Institute researchers were featured at GreenBiz 24 in Phoenix, AZ.


At the conference, UN Global Compact Network USA, partner of the CEO Water Mandate, launched its newest report, "From Ripples to Waves: The Value of Corporate Water Stewardship." The report presents actionable insights from corporate water stewardship.


Among the highlights was a session moderated by Senior Researcher, Cora Snyder. The session showcased the report and facilitated an interactive peer learning platform to discuss and strategize on how companies can engage in collective action to preserve and restore our most precious resource, water.
