Petco Foundation $20,000 Grant for "Trap Neuter Return Community Outreach Program"

We are delighted to share the news that the Humane Society of Charles County was selected by the Petco Foundation to receive a grant for $20,000 to help the "Friends Forever Community Outreach Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) Program" save more lives! If you have free roaming community or " feral " cats living near you, we can help you trap them humanely, spay and/or neuter them to help stop the overpopulation of these animals, provide them with a rabies vaccine, an ear tip and then return them back to the area where they came from.

Fostering a Kind and
Compassionate Future

Did you know that the HSCC's Humane Education Department provides Humane and Environmental Educational presentations to more than 11,000 people each year?  The mighty team of 6 educators offers over 27 different programs to all community organizations, on topics from Pet Safety and Foster Kittens to Bats, Black Bears and Worms.  Each educational program is full of age appropriate information about the topic, educational handouts and activities designed to enhance the children's understanding of the topics.  Programs are continually updated with props, specimens, books and videos and we are continually adding to the list of topics offered.  Through these programs children and teenagers learn respect for all life and grow into kind and compassionate future community leaders.

Did you know that the Waldorf Jaycee Community Center in Waldorf, Maryland supports the Humane Society of Charles County by hosting Bingo Fundraisers?  The Jaycees will provide a generous donation to the shelter when the shelter provides volunteers to help sell Bingo Cards and Specials throughout the night.  The next Bingo Game will be held on Sunday, February 5, from 6:00 pm to approximately 10:30 pm.

If you can volunteer, please email Lori by CLICKING HERE, and confirm your volunteer spot.  We truly appreciate your help and time to help us care for the homeless pets.

Ava is such a wonderful lady she earned herself a spot of "Pet of the Week!"  Ava is a friendly 3 year old domestic goddess with a laid back personality.  She get's along well with other cats and loves to play with toys and is quietly independent.  Ava has been with us since September and longs for a home of her own.  She is up to date on all of her age appropriate shots, spayed, microchipped, de-wormed, is FIV/FeLV negative and little box reliable!  With all that going for her, we can't imagine her not finding a home.  From February 1-14th, all of our 6 months and older cats have an adoption fee of just $14.00.

ADOPT a homeless pet.
If you cannot adopt, FOSTER.
If you cannot foster, DONATE.
If you cannot donate, VOLUNTEER.

Puffy was surrendered to our shelter in December 2016 due to the health of her owner. Puffy is a gorgeous black/white domestic short haired kitty 10 years young and longs to know the feelings of a home again.  She misses her owner and wants so badly to find another human who she can spend her golden years with.  If you are happy with not having the crazy energy of a kitten around, but long to enjoy quiet evenings with an older gal, Puffy is the one for you!   Her adoption fee has been sponsored and she is ready to go home as soon as an adoption application has been approved.
