Dear Friends and Supporters, As February settles in, our year is already well underway, and Kids’ Chance of Maryland is moving forward with purpose and energy. With new initiatives taking shape and our mission guiding every step, this is a moment to pause, take stock, and share the progress your support is making possible.
Strengthening Our Impact in 2026
At our February board meeting, we reviewed the early‑year progress of our scholarship and outreach efforts. With new applications under review and ongoing support needs for our current students, our focus remains firmly on expanding our reach and ensuring we can meet the growing demand for assistance throughout 2026.
We also approved new initiatives to deepen engagement with our current scholars. This spring, each student will receive a Kids’ Chance t‑shirt ahead of spring break, along with a gift card before finals—small but meaningful reminders that they have a community cheering them on.
Upcoming Events: Join Us and Make a Difference
Our event season is officially underway, and we hope you’ll join us for one—or all—of our 2026 gatherings:
Bowling for Scholarships – March 11, 2026
Registration is off to a great start, with strong interest from teams, individual bowlers, and sponsors. This event is always a highlight of the spring, bringing together coworkers, supporters, and partners for an evening of fun, connection, and purpose.
Crab Feast – June 24, 2026
This year’s Crab Feast will welcome up to 225 guests and feature live music and improved staging to elevate the program and highlight the impact of our mission. As interest continues to grow, this event offers a meaningful opportunity for sponsors and supporters to come together in support of Maryland students who need us. We look forward to an engaging and purpose‑driven celebration in 2026.
Golf Tournament – July 23, 2026
Planning is in motion for our 2026 Golf Tournament, an event that brings our community together in support of Kids’ Chance scholars. Registration and sponsorship opportunities will be available soon, offering donors a meaningful way to help students pursuing their educational goals.
Expanding Our Reach
We are also launching a new initiative to strengthen outreach to Maryland high school administrators and counselors, ensuring that more students learn about the opportunities Kids’ Chance provides. This work is essential to identifying families who may not yet know that help is available. Kids’ Chance of Maryland will also be represented at the Kids’ Chance of America National Conference, taking place April 13–15, 2026, in San Diego. KCMD Secretary Alan Gross, Esq., and KCMD's Senior Financial Advisor Jeff Horowitz, Esq., will attend on our behalf, ensuring Maryland remains connected to national best practices, emerging ideas, and collaborative efforts that strengthen support for our scholars.
Thank You for Standing With Us
Every scholarship we award, every student we support, and every milestone we celebrate is made possible by you. Your generosity fuels our mission and opens doors for young people who have faced unimaginable challenges.
As we look ahead to the Bowling Tournament and the busy months to come, I hope you’ll continue to stand with us. Together, we can make 2026 a year of opportunity, connection, and hope for the students we serve.
With sincere appreciation,
Edgar G. Dodd, III
President, Kids' Chance of Maryland
