LLT News

February 2024

Cold weather doesn't stop our volunteers!

Volunteers hard at work on our trails.  Tree falls, erosion, wear and tear, and trash removal have been keeping us busy at our five hiking preserves.

Station Neighbors

The ”Station” nonprofit organization hub at 28 Russell Street is now fully occupied. Litchfield Land Trust shares the building with Litchfield Hills Audubon Society, Rivers Alliance of CT, Litchfield Housing Trust, and Litchfield Community Greenway.

Collaboration

Litchfield Land Trust continues to collaborate with local and regional land trusts and conservation organizations. We have hosted several regional meetings including Small Area Land Trusts and the Litchfield Greenprint Collaborative at the Litchfield Land Trust office.

Native Plants

Litchfield Land Trust is collaborating with Heather Liljengren, a Field Botanist, for the collection and propagation of native seeds from our preserves. The CT northwestern highlands represent a unique ecosystem with ecotypes that support local pollinators and wildlife. Together we are promoting and encouraging the planting of locally sourced plants.
