Providence Cristo Rey High School Newsletter
February 2016
In other news . . .

Some of our 2015 graduates returned from college to talk to our seniors about what to expect after high school. Visiting alums were Aje'Shna Payne who attends ISU; Konner Jenkins who attends Purdue; Grace Allen who attends ISU; Cynthia Schrunder who attends IUPUI and Lizeth Perez who attends UINDY.

When her daughter Olivia, a freshman, was named to honor roll, Elizabeth Major was there to cheer her on. "What I like best about PCRHS is how much Olivia has gained confidence in herself and how proud she is of her success."

Dear Friends, Family Members and Supporters:
Providence Cristo Rey recently took part in two National Celebrations - School Choice Week and Catholic Schools Week.
What does that mean for us? We have the opportunity to serve more financially disadvantaged students through School Choice vouchers. The Institute for Quality Education works to raise awareness that every Hoosier child deserves to attend the school that best meets his or her needs - whether that is a traditional public school, private school, virtual school or home school. In Indiana, parents have the right to choose the best option that will ensure a quality education for their child.
While attending the School Choice Celebration at the Indiana State House students met Governor Michael Pence and Speaker of the House of Representatives Brian Bosma.
Two of our seniors participated in a School Choice Rally at the Indiana State House.
As part of Catholic Schools Week, members of the Providence Cristo Rey family celebrated our roots in Catholicism and our founders, the Sisters of Providence. The Catholic Education Association reports " national test scores, high school graduation rates, college attendance and other data show that Catholic schools frequently out perform schools in both the public and private sectors."
PCRHS Seniors took part  in a mass at St. Peter and Pauls Cathedral with Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin
If you would like to know more about School Choice or how students can enroll in our private, Catholic College Preparatory School call our Admissions Office at (317) 860-1000, ext. 121.

Sincerely,
The Faculty, Staff and Students of Providence Cristo Rey.

In Memoriam

It is with deep sadness that the faculty, students and staff  said farewell to a member of our campus ministry team, Frank Stone who died last month. Pastor Stone was remembered by students as someone who always had a smile and always offered an inspiring word.

Our Mission: "Providence Cristo Rey is a Catholic co-educational college preparatory school serving Indianapolis by offering a transformational educational experience to students with economic need.
