INDIANA GOVERNOR ERIC J. HOLCOMB TO BE HONORED AS THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
The Board of Directors of The International Center have selected Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb as the recipient of the 2018 International Citizen of the Year Award , which honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the globalization of Indiana.

“We applaud the work Governor Holcomb is doing to ensure Indiana remains competitive in the global market. The Governor continues to be fervent in his initiatives toward the ongoing globalization of Indiana and for that we are thankful and pleased to honor him as this year’s International Citizen of the Year,” said Martin Baier , President and CEO of The International Center and honorary French consul.

Holcomb is the 32 nd recipient of the award, which began in 1985 and recognizes Hoosiers who have fostered a world view in Indiana through business, culture, education, government, medicine, research, media, sports and community service. 

Governor Holcomb is a veteran of the United States Navy, served as the state’s 51st Lt. Governor and was a trusted advisor to both Governor Mitch Daniels and Senator Dan Coats . He is the 51st Governor of Indiana.
REPRESENTATIVES FROM CENTRAL INDIANA NONPROFITS ATTEND THE
FESTIVAL FUND OPEN HOUSE
On Monday, January 29, The International Center hosted its fourth Festival Fund Open House, a free event open to all potential Festival Fund grant applicants.

The attendees received advice from Logan Charlesworth, Festival Fund administrator, regarding the application process, a guide on how to plan a successful multicultural event from Mark Henderson, Latvian Community Center, and fundraising tips from Cassie Stockamp, President of the Athenaeum Foundation.

THE CENTER THANKS IVLP VOLUNTEERS FOR THEIR EXPERTISE, SERVICE
The Center hosted local nonprofit leaders and Civic Engagement for Expatriates alumni for a networking reception on Wednesday, January 31.

Graduates of both 2016 and 2017 cohorts joined with representatives of United Way of Central Indiana, Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) , Exodus Refugee Immigration , Timmy Global Health , Playworks , American Red Cross and other organizations that serve the Indianapolis community. The goal of the event was to initiate conversations and explore mutual interest for potential new board and/or committee members, or volunteer opportunities.
