WE HAVE A DREAM
IHDF celebrates 30th Anniversary
2020 is a BIG year for both Lori Canova and the "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County! Lori is retiring after serving as the President and CEO of the organization for the past 23 years, and IHDF is celebrating its 30th anniversary!

Why “We Have A Dream”? Over the last 30 years of "I Have A Dream" in Boulder County, we ALL came together to make this dream come true. And together, we’re looking forward to the next 30 years with an even bolder commitment to making our community better, richer, and fuller for everyone.

Be our guest for the 12th Annual
Dream-Maker Breakfast!

Support IHDF and receive tax benefits
through ReFUND CO
As tax season approaches, we want to share about an exciting opportunity to invest your tax refund into education for children in our community.

In 2019, Colorado returned more than $1 billion in refunds to 1.9 million state taxpayers. This year, Coloradans who receive a state income tax refund will have a chance to donate all or some of it to a local nonprofit they love and trust—like “I Have A Dream”.

If you get a state income tax refund, The ReFUND CO campaign puts you in control of deciding to donate it to a Colorado-registered charity.

As you likely know, we do not charge tuition or fees for the services we provide.

As such, we couldn’t do this work with your past support. We hope you’ll consider continuing your support in this new way.

Commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Jan. 20, Dreamer Scholars, staff, Americrops members and mentors participated in events held in Lafayette and Denver to honor the life of MLK, Jr.

For Dreamer Scholars in the Alicia Sanchez (3rd and 4th grade) and Diagonal Court (2nd through 4th grade) classes this is the beginning of a formation in civic engagement.
Holiday Dreams Come True!
Thanks to our amazing donors, 1,440 members of our community were provided with gifts during the 2019 holiday season! Gifts were distributed at each site's holiday party where Dreamer Scholars, families, staff and Americrops team members gathered together.

A big thanks to all individual donors and to Mile High United Way, Cigna, Sterling Rice Group, KBI Biopharma Inc., Holland & Hart, SDL Inc, Mercer, ICAT, Capital One Cafe, MOMS Club of Longmont, Lafayette Lions Club, and Eureka Restaurant Group.
National Mentoring Month

January was National Mentoring Month! IHDF would like to give a HUGE thank you to the amazing 168 active mentors.

Mollie McGill has been a mentor for Lupita (Elk Dreamer Scholar), since 2018.
Lupita had this to say about her experience as a mentee: "I love having a mentor because she's always available when I need her. A mentor is a friend who supports you in everything like pursuing your dream. I like to share moments with her having fun or eating ice cream. She is a very good person and very kind to my family. A mentor can help you with many things. I am a lucky person."

Molly says, "I am particularly happy how Lupita has grown into our friendship and she is so more willing to share her thoughts with me. She's now in 5th Grade. I've told her that I will be there for her high school graduation!"

Thank you, Mollie, for everything that you do for Lupita and IHDF!
Thank you, Ball Foundation!
The Ball Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Ball Corporation, awarded IHDF with $10,000 in 2020 to support of our STEM Onwards & Upwards Program.

Funds will provide opportunities for hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that motivate students to pursue scientific careers and raise their science and biotechnology literacy.

IHDF is grateful to the Ball Foundation for remaining one of our critical supporters since 2011!
Thanks, 2020 Corporate Dream-Makers!
This work wouldn't be possible without you!
