FEBRUARY COMMUNITY
NEWS & UPDATES
WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK
And Shoulders, Knees, Ankles...
During the winter months, hospitals can see almost double the traffic due to injuries from icy roads and walkways. Although we are hearty New Englanders, accidents do happen and the Needham Community Council is prepared to help.
We provide FREE loans of medical equipment from crutches and commodes to walkers and wheelchairs.
Call the office at 781-444-2415 or stop in to the Council to inquire about loaning from or donating to our extensive medical equipment closet.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
ELL PROGRAM
Our English Language Learners program is growing even during these cold winter days. We currently have more students than we do tutors. So, if you or someone you know would be interested in lending their time, we would love to provide the opportunity to enrich our students' lives.
Our ELL director aligns our Tutors with the training and resources they need to be successful in teaching Needham residents who are new to English. Please call our office at 781-444-2415 or email Jtovar@needhamcouncil.org.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
NEEDED
We are in need of some on-call drivers to help us deliver to our food pantry customers on Tuesday mornings. Drivers need to be able to lift at least 30 lbs and available on Tuesdays from about
10:15 am – 11:30 pm.

VOLUNTEER ARTIST/ILLUSTRATOR
NEEDED
We have designed a basic coloring/activity book about the Needham Community Council and its programs for elementary school students. We need an artist to add their flair to enhance the project with entertaining illustrations that complement and spark interest in our work.
If you have a student in a Needham Middle School or Elementary who is benefitting from the free lunch program, then you could be saving up to $600/year per child! Yet there are families in our own community who are struggling to put food on the table.
A group of parents and Needham leaders have partnered with the Needham Community Council and the Needham Community Farm to help us channel these savings to the families in our community who struggle to put food on their table.
Please consider donating and help us - feed it forward!

Do you want to teach your children how to fill their piggy banks and their hearts? Just follow the triple S rule, Save, Spend and Share using the Council's Common Cents tool.
Kids are visual learners so this is a great way to talk to them about money in a fun and interesting way while developing their sense of compassion.
