Greetings from Tucson!
The Tucson 67th International Gem, Mineral, Jewelry and Fossil Show is in full swing! Michael, Amanda and I are right in the thick of it shopping away, which is why this newsletter it a wee bit late.
I was glad we came to the show early this year. There was a large volume of buyers that have been waiting almost 2 years to restock their inventory. A lot of the choice material is already gone and there are 10 more days of the show left. Because of the shipping struggles many vendors are forced to go into their old inventory to find enough product to supply to their buyers. It’s been interesting to see what “warehouse material” the vendors have been pulling and putting in the back of their booths for us to stumble upon. We are finding some juicy old material and some mined out material that is close to old prices. Be prepared to be amazed.
If you find yourself in Tucson at the gem show be sure to stop by and say hi to Robert and check out our Agates. Our booth location is at the Pueblo Gem & Mineral Show, which can be found at the Ramada by Windham Booth #115 in the Courtyard Pavilion until February 8th.
February always brings some interesting and fun events for us to enjoy. The Chinese Lunar New Year began its celebrations on February 1st with 2022 designated as the year of the Tiger. Remember tigers like to be in charge and roar, so if you already have a tiger personality you may find yourself feeling intense and ramped up. Best to learn that meditation you’ve been hearing about and remember to breathe. This is a great year for anyone or anything that is quiet, refined, or small. Watch them roar this year. Small businesses are going to love the energy shooting their way. There is currently a bill before congress to make Lunar New Year the 12th official federal holiday.
Ground Hog Day on the 2nd presents a way to gauge if winter will remain for another six weeks or end early. February is also filled with presidential acknowledgements including Presidents’ Day on the 21st established to recognize Lincoln’s birthday on the 12th ,and Washington’s Birthday on the 22nd. I thought it interesting these 2 powerful men were both Aquarians with Washington having the Pisces cusp wisdom to help navigate a brand new country. Last, but by no means least, is Valentine's Day on Monday, February 14, a day to celebrate love and all things romantic. It’s really too bad we can’t have a Valentine's Day at least twice a year or even quarter to bring some uplifting energy to our universal energy center.
A lot of our online store customers are going WOW over the new jewelry selections available online. Many of these fine pieces are made right here in the USA! The new Alpaca fur hats and Vicuña Knit Convertible Mittens from Peru are a must for this cold weather. Be sure check out the colorful woven scarfs from Peru too! With such colors and assortment you’ll be stylishly cozy while at the same time helping to support local artisans in Peru.
Our online store department is still looking for great content creators to help with product descriptions, recommendations and more. Share your love of rocks and nature through words, energy and physical connections. Contact support@naturestreasuresatx.com for more information.
Don’t forget to share the love on Valentine's Day. We’ve got some of the prettiest heart shapes and loving blessings you’ll find anywhere.

Featured Agate - Laguna agate
|
This is a Laguna Agate from near Estacion Ojo Laguna, a small town on the west side of the agate claims. This is just off Highway 45. This agate is found about 150 miles south of El Paso, Texas.
This is the most desired agate of all the agates in the world. It is because of the wide variety of color, pattern and shadow effect often found in these stones. The claims have been worked pretty steadily since the mid 90's with many beautiful agates being unearthed for collectors.
We currently have Laguna rough from 4 different claims available in the Rock Depot for those who enjoy cutting. There is La Alianza, San Martin, La Vacuna and Mesquite.
This is half of a nodule of La Alianza showing hues of lavender, salmon, and lemon in tightly packed bands with shadow effect.

Featured Fossil : Starfish
|
Starfish or Sea Stars have been around for over 450 million years but fossil remains are difficult to collect due to how quickly they deteriorate after death. They are part of the class of echinoderms called Asteroidea and digest food outside of their body allowing them to pursue larger prey. There are nearly 1,900 different types of species on the ocean floors all over the world. Most Starfish have five arms radiating outward from a central disc and have been known to grow up to twenty arms with their bodies existing in a variety of colors. Having the ability to regrow arms is one of their many unique traits. They can represent renewal, regeneration and self-sustainability. For some, the Starfish has been a symbol used to represent the Virgin Mary (Stella Maris which means Star of the Sea) who creates safe travel through troubled waters and for others they can be more of a celestial symbol to represent divine love. Whether you are navigating a challenging situation or seeking renewal, maybe the Starfish is just the guide you need.

Stephanie
Stephanie grew up in the Twin Cities, before moving to Austin with her family in 2011. Later, she moved back to MN to attend Minneapolis College of Art and Design for a year to study sculpture, then she moved back to Austin and became a preschool teacher for a few years. Stephanie has always felt connected to the spiritual realm of life and is currently studying to become a reiki master teacher. Kayaking on Lake Travis and biking around Lady Bird Lake are some of her favorite outdoor hobbies, but when it’s cold out she enjoys reading and watching movies with her boyfriend and 6 cats.

My favorite stone is Vesuvianite because it supports your mental health by releasing repetitive negative emotions towards yourself, which allows for unbounded self love.
