Impact of Winter Storm Orlena
The Sixth Taxing District’s (6TD) garbage collector, AFK, had to delay pick ups by a day due to the storm. Monday’s garbage was collected today and those with Tuesday pick up will get collected on Wednesday.

There will be no yard wasted pick up this week in Rowayton.

The City of Norwalk’s contractor, City Carting, has had to reschedule recycling pickup – Tuesday’s regulation collection is now rescheduled for Thursday.

The weekly composting pick up at the Rowayton Community Center – a joint venture of the 6TD and the City of Norwalk – will take place as regularly scheduled. Please drop your composting off by Wednesday for the week’s collection.
Rowayton Fire Department
Please Keep Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow
The Rowayton Volunteer Fire Department is asking residents and businesses to “adopt” their neighborhood fire hydrant and assure that it is accessible by creating a 3 foot clearance on all sides of the hydrant from snow and other obstructions.

By adopting a hydrant, participants will be helping to protect themselves, their family, and their neighbors. When there is a fire, the fire department must quickly locate and establish a water supply from the closet fire hydrant. If the hydrant is buried, valuable minutes are lost. Most fire engines only carry enough water for the first few minutes of a fire attack, so establishing a water supply quickly is critical.

If you are unable to dig out a hydrant, but know where there is one that needs to be dug out, please call us and leave a message at (203) 853-9411. We’ll be happy to come and dig it out for you. You can also send us a message about buried hydrants.

As of now, this is the current timeline for all divisions:
  • Opening Day - tentatively April 18th (rainout of April 25)
  • Tee-ball / A-Ball - games starting May 1st
  • AA, AAA and Majors
  • Pre-season clinics for AAA and Majors starting February 21st (click to register)
  • Games starting the week of April 19th
  • Softball
  • Pre-season clinics in March
  • Games mid April through June

We recognize that it's hard to think about playing ball with snow on the ground. But you know what? Think about it and consider about how much fun these kids have playing ball and getting dirty. The smiles on their faces jumping through their masks as they hit the ball and round third base for home. Baseball and Softball is exactly what we need to be thinking about right now!
Thank you as always for your ongoing support, and please register early to help us put together the best season possible!
