Hello Neighbors and Friends,

I’m pleased to share updates on legislation and initiatives that impact our neighborhoods. Improving quality of life remains a top priority, and I’m happy to report that four of my bills are making progress through the legislative process.

CB-02-2025 (Boat Bill) –  Prohibits boats from being parked on County roads, improving safety and accessibility. This bill will come up for a final vote soon. It was passed out of committee favorably.

CB-04-2025 (Trailer Bill) –  Prohibits trailers from being parked on County roads, with certain exemptions. It will be reviewed by the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment (TIEE) Committee.

CB-03-2025 (Permitting Ombudsman Bill) Establishes a Permitting Ombudsman to serve as an advocate for residents and small businesses navigating the permitting process. This bill will also be taken up by the TIEE Committee.

CB-13-2025 (Tree Conservation Integrity Act) –  Strengthens protections for designated conservation areas, ensuring that preserved green spaces remain healthy and flourish after development is completed.

In partnership with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC), we recently hosted two community forums focused on the future of the Annapolis Road and Kenilworth Avenue corridors. Thoughtful, community-driven planning is key to fostering sustainable development, and I appreciate the input from residents who attended. Your voices are essential in shaping these areas, and your feedback will help guide future decisions.

I am appalled by what is happening in our federal government. The uncertainty that federal employees are facing, and the reckless actions being taken to upend and dismantle agencies that do the nation’s work, are unconscionable. We are in touch with our federal and state officials as we navigate this crisis.

Our immigrant community continues to face dire challenge. Please see the resources for our immigrant community listed in this newsletter.

As always, please contact my office if there is ever anything we can do to assist you.
