Classic Nursery Rhyme of the Month
Lavender's Blue
Singing nursery rhymes together with your babies, toddlers and preschoolers is a great way to help with language development. The rhythm and repetition of the words help children to recognize and reuse the words. This song is a classic British lullaby that has been a favorite for generations...
Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen.
Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so.
Call up your friends, dilly, dilly
Set them to work
Some to the plough, dilly dilly,
Some to the fork.
Some to the hay, dilly dilly,
Some to thresh corn
Whilst you and I, dilly dilly,
Keep ourselves warm.
Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen.
Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so.
Do you have any childhood favo
rites? Let us know! We'd love to share them here.
You can also visit our Facebook page to share
them, or share photos of you and your baby together.
Together we can build a community of bright and confident children!

Provider Profile
Hi! I'm Sara Dentone and I'm a family child care provider in Plymouth. I've provided care in the Plymouth area for over 12 years. I started studying early childhood education years ago through a program called CARES that was similar to the new program, Amador Quality for Kids. I have 40 units of childhood education and many workshop learning hours in my knowledge base. As a
provider
having the knowledge of early childhood development is important not only for providing quality care for kids, but also a valuable tool in helping parents and families to raise their children.
I appreciate the support of the Quality for Kids program and the resources it
provides for
child care
providers
.
A few months ago, Sara agreed to allow local FCCERS (Family Child Care Environmental Rating Scale) trainees observe and assess her family child care home. As a result of this partnership, these trainees were able to observe Sara's program and important aspects of maintaining a FCCERS-friendly program, and Sara earned a stipend through Amador Quality for Kids. How can you give kids the best start in life?
... by taking your children to well-child and dental check ups and also,
by doing an "ASQ."
The Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) is a way to make sure your child is "on track." The screening tools are designed
to be completed by parents or primary caregivers, that encourage parent-caregiver involvement.
Each questionnaire can be completed in 10-20 minutes, and is divided into five areas: Communication, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Problem Solving, and
Personal-Social.
The benefit for all children and families is so that parents/caregivers know which areas they can focus on at home with their children.
For more information,
please call First 5 Amador at 257-1092.
