Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.

Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

CERI'S CORNER:

-Homemade Dog Food & Treats

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and I can already feel the love in the air—especially because I know there will be some delicious homemade treats coming my way! My hoomans are always coming up with sweet surprises, and this year, it’s all about Valentine’s Day-themed goodies. I’m talking heart-shaped biscuits, peanut butter cookies, and maybe a special little something just for me. It’s the perfect time for homemade treats, and I’m already wagging my tail in anticipation. Whether you're getting pampered like me or looking to spoil your furry friend, it’s definitely a day for love (and snacks)!

I overheard Mom talking about how she’s been getting inspiration from our friends at Daily Paws and how you can make yummy homemade dog food and treats. Can you imagine? Homemade food! I’m already drooling. The best part is that it's safe, healthy, and made with love—just how I like it. Check out these recipe ideas! If Mom follows those, I know I’m in for a delicious time.

Now, I have to take a quick moment to brag about the yummy treats Mom made during football season too! She posted some pictures and a recipe below... Of course, I couldn’t care less about the game, but the snacks? That’s the real MVP. I’ll be honest though, I could definitely live in a world where every day is a treat day.

Oh, and did you seen the cool article above about the “corgi cop” doing such a fantastic job? I have to admit, my first thought was: Wow, is that my calling? But then I quickly realized—I like my cozy chair way too much. - Nay, I’m a professional napper, not a cop! But that corgi’s got it going on. Big respect.

Also, there’s an article about Bernese Mountain Dogs—like my big brother! Aren't they handsome? (I mean, he is my brother, so I have to say that.) It’s so fun to see the big guys get a little spotlight. They're mostly good dogs... (remember...big brother🙄😉), and I'm always amazed at how fluffy and majestic they are.

So as you celebrate Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to treat yourself and your furry friends to something homemade. Maybe even give a little extra love in the form of peanut butter or bacon. No matter what, if it’s made with love, it’s sure to be the best treat ever. Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

-Still Life

Good Morning America and Veranda Magazine Book Club Pick!

A captivating, bighearted, richly tapestried story of people brought together by love, war, art, flood, and the ghost of E. M. Forster, by the celebrated author of Tin Man.

Tuscany, 1944: As Allied troops advance and bombs fall around deserted villages, a young English soldier, Ulysses Temper, finds himself in the wine cellar of a deserted villa. There, he has a chance encounter with Evelyn Skinner, a middle-aged art historian who has come to Italy to salvage paintings from the ruins and recall long-forgotten memories of her own youth. In each other, Ulysses and Evelyn find a kindred spirit amidst the rubble of war-torn Italy, and set off on a course of events that will shape Ulysses's life for the next four decades.

As Ulysses returns home to London, re-immersing himself in his crew at The Stoat and Parrot—a motley mix of pub crawlers and eccentrics—he carries his time in Italy with him. And when an unexpected inheritance brings him back to where it all began, Ulysses knows better than to tempt fate, and returns to the Tuscan hills.

With beautiful prose, extraordinary tenderness, and bursts of humor and light, Sarah Winman's Still Life is a sweeping portrait of unforgettable individuals who come together to make a family, and a deeply drawn celebration of beauty and love in all its forms.
