Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance Policy Conference
Manistee County had strong representation at the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance (NMCA) Policy Conference, bringing together key leaders and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions and develop strategies that drive economic growth, foster collaboration, and strengthen the future of Northern Michigan.
The NMCA welcomed Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the conference, and is working with her on the newly announced Employer-Assisted Housing program through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority to bring attainable housing to northern Michigan.

Venture North Manages Fund to Help Manistee County Businesses
If your Manistee County business needs help to fill the gaps — from signage to equipment, renovations or more — a fund now managed by Venture North Funding and Development may be a perfect fit. Venture North has entered into an agreement with the Manistee DDA to manage a revolving loan fund they created under a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development.

Industrial Day
On January 16th, the Leadership Program Cohort spent the day immersed in Manistee’s manufacturing sector.
They attended a Manistee Manufacturer’s Council meeting with representatives from major local manufacturers (Martin Marietta, Morton Salt, Metalworks, TES Filer City Station, and Packaging Corporation of America), followed by insightful tours of Martin Marietta and Morton Salt. Participants gained a firsthand look at production processes and learned about each company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Frostbite Festival

The Frostbite Chili Cookoff returns to Downtown Manistee! Visit the Manistee Inn & Marina parking lot. $5 admission, and all funds will go towards a non-profit of choice, which will be voted on at the cookoff.
There will be three voting categories: Best Chili, Best Table, and which Non-Profit to receive the funds.
Additionally, several other Downtown Manistee businesses will be holding specials and events.

Backpack Bash 2025

The Wexford-Missaukee-Manistee Great Start Collaborative is putting together a new back-to-school event in Kaleva and plans to serve 300 students. They will need new water bottles, donation of children's socks/underwear, and a set of hands on the day of the event.
