Bridging the Gap for Families Through Support

This month, the Child & Family Center, in partnership with the City of Santa Clarita, hosted two impactful events to support local youth and families.

YES Program Sign-Up Success

With an incredible turnout, teens took their first steps toward job training and career growth through the YES Program. It was inspiring to see so many young people eager to build skills and gain valuable work experience.

S.C.O.R.E. Scholarship Event Brings Opportunities

Families signed up for financial assistance, ensuring more children can participate in recreation programs, camps, and classes, making enrichment activities more accessible to all.

To further support families, the Child & Family Center’s Pathways to Recovery program helps bridge the gap for parents and loved ones navigating the challenges of substance use and recovery. By providing essential drug and alcohol treatment services for youth and adults, this program empowers families to heal and rebuild stronger connections.

"Get Real Adulting 101" a Huge Success for Bowman High!

The Get Real Adulting 101 event for Bowman High School was held at the Child & Family Center, giving students a hands-on lesson in financial responsibility. Organized by the Junior Chamber of Santa Clarita (JCI), the event featured a simulation where students were assigned a career and salary, then tasked with budgeting for necessities and extras—all while striving to maintain a positive bank balance.

Local businesses ran booths, offering real-world insights into managing expenses. Due to its success, the event will return for Hart District students on Saturday, March 28, 2025.

Depression When Child Goes to College:

What to do?

Parents often feel both proud and sad when their child leaves for college, adjusting to a new normal and redefining their relationship. If you are learning to navigate your child leaving for college, try these five tips:

  1. Acknowledge Your Feelings – It’s okay to grieve this transition.
  2. Stay Connected – Regular calls or messages can help.
  3. Focus on Yourself – Rediscover hobbies and interests.
  4. Seek Support – Talk to friends, family, or a therapist.
  5. Set New Goals – Find purpose in this new stage of life.

Here's a glimpse into January's impact:

- Conducted a total of 5,642 sessions

- Welcomed 99 new clients to our Center

- Celebrated the graduation of 144 clients from our services
