As a manufacturer of equipment for over 35 years D&K's latest innovation has been named Neptune.
Based on the award winning Europa B2 Laminator, which is now approaching 300 installations, the Neptune will receive its official launch at Drupa this year.
"We wanted to bring a fully automatic B3 laminator to the market in 2010
when the prototype of the Europa was first shown in B3 format at IPEX. At the time however, vi
sitors to the show, coupled with the economic climate suggested that a lower cost B2 model would have far wider appeal" says John Hancock, Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland.
"Today, the growth of the digital print market leads us to believ
e that n
ow is the right time to launch a B3 model. The run lengths that printers are willing to produce on digital presses is increasing and we are being asked more frequently for a fully automated SRA3/B3 model where the speeds that can be achieved by hand feeding just aren't viable."
The D&K Neptune benefits from a compact footprint of less than 2m x 1m, so is scarcely more than hand-fed models, and weighs in at around 350kg. It has a deep pile feeder and will run stock weights of 115g/m2 to 350g/m2 at speeds of up to 15m/minute meaning that it will laminate 2,000 SRA3 sheets per hour. It also has an easy to operate touch screen control panel
"Although there appear to be positive signs for the economy, price is still an important factor and so the B3 Neptune will compare favourably with the semi-automatic models currently on the market but have significantly greater productivity. I'm sure that the specification, robust build quality and modest price tag will result in a great deal of interest in the Neptune" commented Hancock.
Installation is quick and easy with D&K engineers giving full operator training once the machine is installed and they are always available to give help and advice when needed.
