Hello Nita,

Thank you to this world community that reaches out each week to meet together in the joy of motion. We move to recognize our relations as a penetrating aspect of every moment. Here, we find the ability to meet the world generously, generatively, consciously. We touch those present with us now, those beyond the veil of time and space, and those who are simply out of range in this moment. I particularly would like to recognize the profound impact of the life of Thich Nhat Hanh. The touch of his writing, verse and prose, has often been a place of solace for me when facing a world that so easily loses sight of, and means to, peace. Gratitude to you, Thay, for your life of ongoing awe. May we all live daily lives of wonder that benefit others.

Pop-Up Class!

Join me for a class that moves the dark aside, moves any seasonal depression aside, unmasking mood, to find what lies just below the surface. One small step at a time, we find how ripe we are for Moving Joy. Generous, sensitive, allowing our inwardness but not only, we step into that river of flow that can reveal the sun within.

Dance does the work, you simply join. Easy.

An Aside...

Being conscious means also being both unconscious and on the edge of consciousness, but not quite recognizing it – being subconscious. The subconscious is amazing – for one thing it makes, plus or minus, 95 percent of our decisions.* When we move at the speed of our attention while dancing, we are coaxing the subconscious mind to take a more forward part in our movement experience.** In that state, we can be present right at that cusp of an event, where the subconscious percolates into the conscious mind and we can experience the seamless whole that we actually are. Becoming great friends with our subconscious is reinforced by good habits of attention, listening within, clarity in our inner actions, care, and trust that is built not only by experience, but by knowing truly that this aspect of our being can always be there for us generatively. The subconscious that moves us can be amazing!

* Psychologist, Abraham Maslow, and more recently cognitive scientist David Eagleman, and many others.

** The subconscious is already part of every action, but is merely more hidden.

Informed by Contact Improvisation, Relational Intelligence dances us into richer embodied relational practices within ourselves, with others, and with the environments in which we live...things, beings, spaces, places, times. The dance is our guide. Meditations, scores and practices on the physicality of our relations.

An Aside...

When you say the words and felt sense, “I am” what could be your correlate in action? Do you have one? If you seek and find it, it can be a powerful place from which you organize your conscious and your subconscious mind. Take a physical position “I am,” and feel it inwardly, as if speaking to yourself ... and then, also “speak” outwardly, to the world. Then, moving at the speed of your attention so that there is no planning, allow yourself to bring your deepest hopes and dreams into unspoken movement. Let words go, and simply let the movement happen. Return to the “I am” position at any time. Who is dancing you? Your subconscious or your conscious mind? Does it matter?
