Tag Renewal at City Hall

The City of Semmes has partnered with the Mobile County License Commission to make tag renewals easier for our citizens. Soon there will be a kiosk located at City Hall.

Welcome Center/ Chamber Offices

The future Welcome Center & Semmes Chamber of Commerce building addition beside the Community Center has arrived and is in progress. Doors and windows have been installed and interior walls have been started. Plumbing, electrical and mechanical will be in progress for the next few weeks.

The large pavilion at the Pickleball Park is finished. 3 of the slabs are complete for courts. The final slab will be poured soon. After that, painting, installation of fences, and lights will be done.

Site Work is in progress for the future Fire Station located off Schillinger Road. Undercuts and backfields have been in progress for the site. Foundation preparation will begin in February. This Station will house Station 3 and all admin offices.

Large windows at the Senior Center will be replaced soon. Thank you Commissioner Connie Hudson for allocating the funding for this project.

Looking Back

The Camellia Festival was a great event filled with blooms from all over Semmes. There were a ton of variations displayed along with beautiful tablescapes featuring camellias, and camellia artwork. Thank you to the Semmes Woman’s Club for providing the refreshments for this event. Thank you to the Semmes Boys and Girls Club for allowing the City to use their facility, moving the festival to it’s original location of the Old Semmes High School Gym.

Over the weekend at the Camellia Festival, the Semmes Camellia Maids held their first Camellia Pageant. This pageant was something done throughout the history of this event years ago and was the perfect start to an annual tradition. It was a fabulous event with many beautiful participants. The Camellia Maids acted as the EMCEEs, helped with registration, organized the participants, crowned the winners, judged the photogenic category, and even got to choose a Camellia Maid Choice Award. We are so proud of our Camellia Maids and look forward to this pageant next year.
