I wrote last month about the challenges brought on from the Omicron spike.  I can report that we survived January 2022. I would not relish experiencing another month like that, and I am thankful to have it in the rear view mirror!  So far, February has treated us to lower infections and exposures with staff and members and stabilization of staffing levels.  I hope that you all have experienced similar relief in your daily lives.

The condition of our buildings and grounds plays an important role in the member experience.  Studies have shown that overall Club environment sends a signal to our youth for how we value them and plays a major role in enhancing their confidence and feelings of importance.  Our mix of facilities runs the gamut – buildings from 6 to 50 to almost 100 years old!  Over the years, our ability to maintain these buildings has waxed and waned.  Today, we find ourselves in a position to address major structural and mechanical repairs/replacement, expand Club footprints and implement projects to improve the curb appeal of our Clubs.  If you have interest in supporting some of these capital projects, please contact me.

My thanks to all of you for your continued support and interest in our mission.  In addition to this monthly message, we have an active social media presence.  If you have a chance, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

President & CEO

The Greater Smyrna Clayton Boys & Girls Club recently unveiled upgraded windows and doors to their facility. The upgrades were made possible through funding awarded by the State of Delaware with the support of local leaders and board members, who combined efforts to help meet the needs of the club.
