This year the Mission focus for our congregation will be world hunger, with a goal of raising at least $10,000 by October to be added to the synod's campaign to raise $500,000 for world hunger as a way of celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. We'll begin with the Souper Bowl of Caring...everyone is asked to bring canned food items on Sunday, February 5th. Our donations will be added to the Boy Scouts food drive and given to our two local food banks...Faith Mission and Bread Partners.

The annual Pancake Supper will be hosted by the Men of the Church on Shrove Tuesday, February 28th. Admission will be by free will offering and this year all proceeds will go towards our world hunger project.

Lent begins on March 1st, Ash Wednesday, and we will have Piggy Bank coin boxes for everyone to collect money during Lent for world hunger. During Lent there will be a special devotional guide, Free Indeed, for all of our friends and family to use for your Lenten study.

Other fundraising projects will happen during the coming months, all focused on helping to bring food to hungry people...one out of every five children in Texas suffers from hunger...more than 800 million people live in poverty with hunger and disease their lot in life. God blesses the earth with harvests plentiful enough for everyone to have enough food...but somehow many are left out of the distribution while 25% of the food in America is wasted. Our donations will not only buy food for the hungry, but also work to bring justice and equity to the food supply system. Join your brothers and sisters in Christ in this mission focus for 2017!

Christ Lutheran Church has completed eight water wells for Water to Thrive! As we move forward with our primary mission project for 2017 - World Hunger - we want to thank everyone for their support to bring clean, safe water to those in rural Africa. Our Water to Thrive project began in 2014 collecting $40,000 over the years to build eight water wells.   THANK YOU CHRIST LUTHERAN!

The World Hunger project will begin Sunday, February 5th with the Souper Bowl of Caring food drive.  The congregation is ask to bring non-perishable food items to combine with the Scouts food drive.  All food collected will be shared with our two local food banks --                                                           Bread Partners and Faith Mission.
Canned and non perishable food donations in February will be donated to Faith Mission and Bread Partners. Please help by bringing your canned and non-perishable food items to the food table located in the narthex.
