Message From The President

Our January meeting downtown Chicago filled the conference room at The Concord Group office. Thanks to them for allowing us to use their office.

Even with the great view of Lake Michigan and plenty of pizza we were still able to have a productive meeting. In our planning for the next years events we would like to schedule two meetings in the downtown area due to the increase in attendance.

Our presentation for the evening was the almost endless uses, it seems, and different types of storefront aluminum and various products used for construction presented by CR Laurence / U.S. Aluminum. This will no doubt be a great resource for future use on projects.

Be sure to check out "What's on the Burner" section below for the upcoming Regional Event happening here in Chicago.

Be sure to sign up for our newsletter so we can include you with all the new information including our Monthly meeting invites.

Trimble Introduces GCEstimator Software Suite to Streamline Construction Estimating for 2D and 3D Workflows

"One of the biggest challenges for construction firms today is to rapidly produce detailed, accurate estimates from both 3D BIM-based models and traditional 2D plans," said Steve Watt, market segment manager for the General Contractor / Construction Manager (GC/CM) Division of Trimble Buildings. "At many companies with diverse portfolios, that often means deploying multiple cost estimating and quantity takeoff tools, each requiring a separate cost database, a lot of data-wrangling and costly resources. With the GCEstimator, Trimble has eliminated this problem by providing quantity takeoff from both 3D models and 2D drawings, and a single database or cost library to drive all estimates."
