From Your Associational Mission Strategist

“And all those who believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.” Acts 2:44-45

Missions should be the heartbeat of every believer and every church. The first church understood the importance of meeting the needs of their communities and shared God’s love. There are many needs around us, and we should make an effort everyday to reach out to those and share the love of Christ. I know from personal experience that when we do this, those who are lost recognize our love for them and the love of Christ. As your mission strategist, I want to encourage our churches to continue to be on mission every day and reach the lostness that is around us. My desire is to see our churches working together to have a greater impact on our communities. There is one this that is for certain, we can do more together than we can by ourselves. That is why I believe a church in the local association can benefit by being a part of an association where churches partner together to share the Gospel and meet the needs of the community. In the brochure, “Why Should Our Church Support our Association?”, it states that an association is a group of churches doing missions. Under this category is also states the following:

Churches can do collectively through the association what no one church can do by itself. An association involve churches in varied mission ministries. Churches can better serve the total geographical area cooperatively through the association. An association is a family of churches involved in special local missions and ministries.

I am grateful everyday to serve this association and with the efforts of our ministry teams and especially our Evangelism/Missions team, we are praying that God will use our association of churches to work together through missional efforts to reach the lost. There are many opportunities that lie before us. In the next few articles of the newsletter, I will be sharing about these opportunities. I am also available to speak at your church to your mission groups about our partnerships and our local opportunities.

May God give us a heart everyday for reaching our communities with the Gospel. I love each of our Pastors and our churches and my prayer is that this year we will see many people come to faith in Christ!

Sharon Baptist Church will begin a study on Spiritual warfare on February 6, 2022 at 5:30 pm. This study will last several weeks. Anyone may attend.

This position will be a part-time position and will work closely with the pastor to lead and shepherd young children, youth, and their families. What to do with all those old Sunday School books?

Don’t throw them away–bring them to SCBN Office

Bring your old SS literature to Houston Baptist Center. Chad Harris will take it to a Edwin L. Hodges Ministries collection site to send overseas. ELHM is a Christian literature ministry that collects donated Bibles, books, magazines, tapes, and tracts from American Christians and ships them to Bible schools, churches, missionaries, and ministries overseas. ELHM is a non-denominational, nonprofit, evangelical ministry.
