Shirl, her husband Jeff, and their son Jeffrey are treasured participants in our St. Mary's County programs. Shirl's warmth and her friendly demeanor make everyone feel welcome and at ease. The Hagens are always eager to lend a helping hand to assure that everyone is having fun.
Shirl has been married to her husband Jeff for 30 years. She says, "We have a son, Jeffery with special needs. We want Jeffery to be happy and involved in his community and SMCR has provided different activities that we all enjoy attending."
What kinds of things have you done with SMCR?
We as a family participate with Bowling, Movie night, Game night, the Walk and Roll club and the Dragon Boat races.
Why do you like volunteering with SMCR?
I volunteer to help ensure that the events run as smoothly as possible and I’m the type person who just jumps in and helps when I see a need. I truly enjoy seeing the participants happy and excited while participating in the events.
